1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts for desk hours, special assignments requiring work during the day, evening, and on weekends, as well as on-call hours.

Minimum of 15 hours per week.

Conference season runs from May to August.

Summer Conference Housing – Conference Assistant

Conference Assistants (CAs) will assist with the administrative, and customer service functions of summer conference operations. This position will serve as our main resource to staff the halls to provide support of the community by performing walks of each floor on rotation, responding to after-hours emergency calls, resident concerns, and resident crises. This position will also assist summer conference guests and residents, facilitate check-in and check-out of conference groups, prepare, and deliver linens to conference guests, and work on special projects for inventory, upkeep, and organization for housing needs. This position also may include other various administrative and clerical duties in support of the summer conference operations, not limited to sorting, distributing, and forwarding mail; sorting, testing, and maintaining an inventory of keys; preparing documents, completing room inspections; answering phones and performing lockouts, serve on an on-call rotation and perform other duties as assigned.

Summer Conference Runs from May through August.

1. If you intend to be a resident advisor for the 2024 fall semester you will still be expected to work around your training to accommodate the transition from summer conference to ResLife staff.

2. Work hours can vary from week to week. Additional paid hours are likely but not guaranteed.

3. Must reside on campus when on-call (housing is provided for all summer conference staff)

Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesEducation:

In order to be eligible for the position, a candidate must:

1. Be a student at the University of Kentucky, in good academic standing.

2. Be in good disciplinary standing at the University of Kentucky.

Experience:

Experience in customer service within a detail-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements:

May be required to walk long distances or sit for long periods of time. May be required to walk up and down stairs. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. May be required to perform physical activities in a housing facility environment. Ability to work effectively in stressful and high pressure situations. May be required to stay longer than shift on occasion.

Skills & Knowledge:

Candidates share the following qualities:

1. Be familiar with offered services and amenities provided to groups/guests.

2. Access/respond to various scenarios with good judgment.

3. Work independently

4. Communicate suggestions/recommendations

5. Assist with the preparation for the academic year move-in

6. Clean and organize housing spaces including break rooms, mailrooms, linen rooms, etc.

7. Assist with various conference duties

8. Work effectively with the conference team

9. Demonstrate time management skills

10.Demonstrate a positive attitude

11.Serve as a role model for guests

12.Fulfill all scheduled shifts with a minimum of 15 hours per week.
