Cluster Sales Director (Pet Specialty Retail) (f/m/x)

in ROYAL CANIN

CNE region

Primary location: Warsaw or Niepolomice

This is a regional role responsible for managing and developing the specialized channel (Pet Specialty Retailing) in the CNE region. The priority of this role is to deliver sustainable growth, recommendation and high profitability through a high performing team and constant development of the team. A large proportion of the time in this role will be spent on developing and coaching directs reports. An important part of the role is to translate and implement the Royal Canin strategy and values, including competition compliance towards the customers, as well as the ability to interact with customers at the highest level. This will be measured by the delivery of the targets on the Pet Specialty Retailing Pillar in the Cluster. The role is also responsible for the Pet Specialty Retailing P&L, including marketing cost, sales cost and taking into account logistics- and financial KPIs – EG NSV, Tonnage, NSVT, Earnings, MAC and Net Cash from Operations (NCFO). This role is also responsible for the collaboration with Royal Canin Europe sales & marketing team, and the Pet Specialty Retailing Director is a member of the Local Leadership Team and reports to the Cluster General Manager.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Define Long Term (1-5 years) Pet Specialty Retailing strategy for the unit aligned with the Royal Canin OGSM & Global Pet Specialty Retailing strategy to deliver mutually sustainable growth for the Brand and the category.
  • Manage a regional team located in 6 countries in Europe, with 6 direct reports and more than 40 indirects;
  • Active member of the Leadership Team, contributing to the overall strategic direction setting for the unit, working closely with the other Value Creation Directors to ensure One Royal Canin collaboration.
  • Design the annual demand operating plan consistent with the strategy and Royal Canin performance targets.
  • Engage key stakeholders internally/externally and team behind the long-term strategy and Operating Plan priorities.
  • Deliver strategic, financial, and business performance, ensure the right metrics are in place to monitor progress and take corrective action.
  • Drive the development of a strong and effective culture consistent with Royal Canin and the 5 Principles of Mars, Inc. Build the capability of the team to deliver the strategy through identifying development needs, bringing on board new resources as needed and ensuring a high-performance team. 
  • Build influential relationships with key customers and other industry stakeholders (Distribution Partners, Key Opinion Leaders).
  • Drive seamless coordination of programs between functions to ensure effective programs are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with global and regional teams to deploy category-building programs into market and launch innovations that fuel the Pet Specialty retailing growth.

What are we looking for?

  • Senior professional with at least five years of people leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build capabilities, develop talent and engage associates.
  • 6+ years of experience in managing Sales and Marketing or Key Accounts, gained in international FMCG company, preferably in regional perspective.
  • Higher (university) degree, Business Administration or Marketing and master’s degree, preferably in economics and/or marketing or Business Administration.
  • Strong people leadership skills and high people agility are key success factors for this role.
  • Great understanding of sales processes, proven track record in building and implementing new route-to-market strategies.
  • Broad business perspective with strong focus on unlocking business opportunities and high learning agility.
  • Experience managing e-commerce sales would be a great benefit.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop long term, effective and influential business relationships with key decision makers which drive mutual growth.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Specialized Pet Trade would be a great advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Polish is required.
  • Business travel is a significant part of the job (driving license is required).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
