Governance and Experience is a global team responsible for ensuring our marketplace is safe and trustworthy for not only users, but also sellers and creators. The Intellectual Property Rights protection function within the Governance and Experience team is committed to protecting intellectual property rights and maintaining a healthy and safe e-commerce environment on TikTok's E-commerce Platforms.

What You’ll Do

  • Continually assess the needs of our users and internal partners, to define a model-driven strategy for the IPR department. Act as a subject matter expert for algorithm-based solutions to business objectives of the IPR department, enabling the team to implement new solutions, particularly in the US region.
  • Create high-quality model-governance roadmaps, and engage with algo team and software engineers to ensure that the roadmap is delivered effectively, on-time, and with integrity. Be the internal and external authority and advocate for the model-governance roadmap, leading related communications with internal decision makers.
  • Enable IPR operations teams in investigating and responding to high-impact brand-related incidents and escalations around product authenticity (e.g. counterfeit, trademark, copyright), by understanding root causes and providing model-led solutions to them.
  • Enable IPR operations teams by creating innovative proactive governance solutions to minimize the counterfeit/copycat risk on the platform.
  • Identify the gaps, loopholes and deficiencies in policy/process/metrics and initiate new programs to drive optimization to minimize the counterfeit/copycat risk on the platform.
  • Gather raw data, conducting segmentation analysis, and other statistical techniques to create scalable technical solutions for counterfeit/copycat risk governance.
  • Define operational metrics, indicators, and build dashboards so IPR operations team can monitor various aspects of counterfeit/copycat risk operation effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with business, policy, legal, engineering, data, product, and other teams to implement cross-function solutions to IPR-related problems.
  • Educate internal stakeholders to ensure the counterfeit/copycat proactive governance program is correctly understood.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with algorithm-based business solutions, including directly developing models or managing model operations.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Analytics, Strategy Consulting, Risk Management, Trust and Safety, Policy Development, preferred in the e-commerce or social media industry.
  • Direct experience in e-commerce intellectual property rights protection will be a plus.
  • Proficient skills in data analysis and visualization using SQL & Excel.
  • Experience with analytical tools is a plus (such as SAS, R, Python).
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and effectively liaise with people at all levels.
  • Project management skills, with experience in collaborating with different business and technical stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute project plans, independently monitor, and ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking and analysis with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or related fields is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English in both written and spoken is a must, while foreign language capability is a plus.
