We are looking for a Trade Compliance, Senior Manager - AP & EMEA! This role can be based in Singapore, China, India, Thailand or Indonesia.

Reporting to the Logistics Director, AP & EMEA, he / she is responsible for managing regional import/export compliance activity in AP & EMEA. You will lead and coach your team which oversee export controls and sanctions, import and data analysis, and plant logistics compliance in both regions. You’ll provide strategic direction and guidance to this team, plus key business partners and stakeholders, focused around our trade compliance program, and provide strategic reviews to our senior leadership team on trade-related events that could potentially impact our business.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Establishes regional export/import procedures that meet company policy and ensures broad company awareness and compliance to various host governments’ regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to process and development and content management; responsible for implementation and documentation of processes for the company within the region.
  • Establish audit and risk assessment of regional export/import compliance program as well as continuous monitoring of established processes.
  • Lead and support regional trade audit strategies, risk assessments and oversee corrective action plans related to export/import for the region.
  • Develop and implement effective regional trade network resources and business relationships with Customs and relevant local government contacts, to ensure compliance with governmental laws/regulations and to facilitate trade/duty initiatives.
  • Continuously study and upgrade regional Trade business knowledge and translate into actionable business recommendations and business plans through consultation with Global Trade Compliance Team.
  • Provide regional Trade consulting, training and knowledge sharing to designated contacts and regional businesses to improve local business knowledge and operational performance and ensure compliance with export/import regulations.
  • Operate as the regional Trade escalation focal point for trade related issues.
  • Lead regional Trade performance management – create and deploy a balanced performance scorecard, key performance indicators and plan of record as required under Global Trade Compliance. Develop and maintain system for export/customs compliance information; identify, recommend and implement standard/automated regional trade reporting and tracking tools.
  • Support growth and expertise in local designated contacts and identify and support talent.
  • Provides customer and merger/acquisition support including trade consulting, product classifications for the region.
  • Implements regional company customs requirements to support supply chain security and preferred shipper status programs such as CTPAT/AEO/PIP etc.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and quality of all trade across the region including but not limited to various host government reporting requirements.
  • Monitors regional regulatory and legislative changes and alerts the Global Trade Compliance team.
  • Represent the company on regional export/customs committees, trade associations and industry forums.
  • Provides leadership for regional customs/export audits, external reviews and investigations: and work to minimize any adverse impact to the company.
  • Identifies regional customs compliance and cost saving opportunities and proactively works with Global Trade Compliance and the business to implement.
  • Supports and assists in special programs and projects, such as regional brokerage and duty mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Provide direct regional support expertise and issue resolution regarding duty, Free Trade zone, and bonded warehouse processes/activities, brokerage and clearance activities.
  • Provide regional export/customs function support for manual processes and ERP solutions.
  • Manage regional trade compliance export/import record retention requirements.
  • Oversight of regional Customs Brokers - establish and drive regional Trade Risk assessment to ensure sound business practices and program implementation; oversee corrective action plan related to trade activities with service providers and brokerage linkages.
  • Establish effective business partnerships and support GTC goals and objectives to align with RA compliance strategy.

ABOUT YOU

  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent or relevant degree for region
  • Minimum 7-10 years of international work experience managing regional trade programs for manufacturing including import, warehousing, distribution, duty brokerage, customs, compliance 3PL/4PL external service in the Americas, Europe, or Asia Pacific Regions
  • Extensive knowledge of regional trade and/or harmonized tariff and customs import fees required; Brokerage or other trade operational experience desired; knowledge of corporate trade compliance programs and issues desired;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, project management expertise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal communication skills, across all levels
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
