We are seeking a full-time Supervisor for our Operational Technology Configuration Management (OTCM) Administration group. The (OTCM) Administration group is part of FirstEnergy’s Asset Management and Records Control (AMRC) department and supports the Transmission and Distribution organizations by implementing the enterprise tools, processes, and procedures necessary to demonstrate FirstEnergy’s compliance with regulatory requirements. 

This position will Supervise a team of professionals composed of employees and contractors with various technology expertise. Leverage in-house and vendor application solutions and processes to address the business and compliance needs of our organization. Collaborate with AMRC leadership and business stakeholders in the alignment of strategic direction, priorities, budgets, etc.

This position reports to the Manager, Asset Information & Tools and is located at the Fairlawn Office in Akron, Ohio. 

Responsibilities include

Supervision:

  • Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety. 
  • Encouraging open, honest, direct, and ongoing conversation and collaboration amongst team members. 
  • Conducting applicant interviews and provide employee coaching, performance reviews, mentoring, etc. on an ongoing basis. 
  • Ensuring priorities for the team are aligned according to business needs and strategic direction, departmental budget, and regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Working with internal audit groups on risk assessment for key projects.
  • Supporting the Emergency Plan through participating in the assigned storm duties.

Systems & Support:

  • Supervising SDLC and Agile projects including sprints, features, stories, requirements, defects, test plans, etc. Current project is Device Integration Application (DIA).
  • Supervising administration, configuration and testing of third-party vendor packages including PowerBase (DOBLE), Relay Testing System (RTS)(DOBLE), and CORE (Quanta).
  • Working with internal stakeholders and vendor(s) to coordinate system improvements, upgrades, defect mitigation and testing of new releases.
  • Providing training to the organization including functionality, processes, and roles and responsibilities. 
  • Analyzing complex issues and developing actionable recommendation; ensuring decisions impacting the team and the FirstEnergy enterprise are based on data and sound reasoning. 
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing business processes as appropriate to insure consistent, sustainable operations of the OTCM systems. 
  • Providing services to help maintain the integrity of substation equipment configuration and related data in the OTCM systems.
  • Providing system database, data analytics and reporting support.
  • Supervising day-to-day production support activities including importing field-testing results, linking assets between systems, and help desk support.
  • Leading process improvement activities that increase productivity and enhance data quality. 
  • Working with approximately 800+ FE OTCM users.

Compliance:

  • Providing business administration services necessary to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Protection and Control (PRC) and internal standards. 
  • Participating in change control activities for scheduled maintenance releases.
  • Providing oversight and business administration of user access to sensitive applications; Managing user access through RAAD (Regulatory Access Authorization Database).

Qualifications include

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Engineering or a related field is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 7 years of direct, related experience will be considered. The experience must include system administration along with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter outlined in the responsibilities above. 
  • Proven effective leadership skills to communicate with and direct work of others that will ensure safety and produce successful results. 
  • Experience working in an Agile environment with a proven track record of successful results.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information to various levels in the organization as well as strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent analytical abilities involving complex problems; exercise sound judgment; detail oriented. 
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships. 
  • Demonstrated experience drafting project charters, scopes of work, managing budgets, establishing priorities, etc.
  • Ability to effectively manage a dynamic work environment with a hybrid team, periodic travel between multiple local work locations and occasional out-of-state overnight stay may be required. 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with either or all – Powerbase, RTS, Cascade / QlikView / Energy Delivery Outage Application (EDOA) / CrossBow / SAP / CORE is preferred.
  • Experience in Energy Delivery (ED) transmission/distribution systems or in general business operations preferred.
