Mid-Senior Level Environmental Scientist

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Mid-Senior Level Environmental Scientist to assist in growing our Texas environmental business. Candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a professional and team-oriented environment. Candidate must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel as needed, possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications is a requirement.

Candidate must have direct work experience with linear permitting, environmental resource permitting (ERP), and environmental siting analysis projects associated with electric transmission, natural gas, renewable natural gas, solar and other industrial/commercial projects in the eastern portion of the continental US. Experience with preparation and submittal of Federal, state, and local environmental permits for impacts to wetlands, streams, floodways/floodplains, principally including General State and Joint Permit Applications, United States Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permits, Jurisdictional Determination requests, and threatened and endangered species consultations, is required. Candidate will be responsible for direction and performance of wetland delineations, interpretation of the Federal Endangered Species Act, and State protected species requirements, as they relate to desktop screening, habitat delineation, and presence / absence surveys and any associated permitting or clearance letters.

Your Role:

  • Environmental siting analysis for solar, electric/gas transmission line, natural gas, renewable natural gas, and commercial/industrial projects.
  • Generate site specific GIS data and prepare map figures showing all identifiable permitting requirements, regulatory concerns, protected species occurrence, water resources, and archaeological and ownership concerns.
  • Provide permitting support for NG production wells (well pads), gathering and transmission pipelines and waterlines, access roads and associated surface facilities. 
  • Summarize results of stream and wetland delineations, threatened & endangered (T&E) species surveys, and cultural resource surveys, into permit applications and supporting documents, and participate in agency consultations. 
  • Preparation of stormwater pollution prevention plans.
  • Preparation of best management practice plans
  • Mentoring of junior staff to elevate skill level and value.
  • Jurisdictional wetland delineation (state/federal)
  • Formal wetland determinations (state/federal)
  • Wetland functional analysis (UMAM, WRAP)
  • Wetland impact studies
  • Wetland Mitigation design and analysis
  • Listed species surveys (state/federal)
  • Listed species permitting (relocation/take)
  • Environmental assessments
  • ERP application preparation/submittal
  • Regulatory coordination

Qualifications - External

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in related field
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced GIS skills. 
  • Wetlands delineation training and relevant experience. 
  • Experience with plant collection or field plant identification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with FERC projects preferred.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
