Master Data Management Services team streamlines the process of maintaining and accessing foundational data by serving up a trusted, single view of our patients, products, customers, suppliers and healthcare providers. We manage data as an asset, in a consistently structured and governed manner, in order to empower meaningful insights and transactions and enable our digital innovation to deliver better outcomes and efficiencies for our customers and patients. This is accomplished by implementing processes and technologies that instill discipline to ensure data is complete, consistent, timely, accessible, and accurate and adheres to global privacy rules. We aim to efficiently deliver reliable master data that is needed to create globally reaching devices and platforms which provide a competitive advantage for Medtronic. 

In this role, you will analyze data quality, enhance data quality solutions, and actively foster a network of business data stewards and business data owners to improve Medtronic Core Data Quality. We are successful when we eliminate the complexity of maintaining and accessing critical data so that it can be used efficiently and reliably across various platforms and therapies today and in the future.

A Day in the Life

  • The Data Analyst makes the data which is collected in multiple corporate systems insightful and easy to understand. This will help stakeholders make informed decisions for their business. By analyzing data, stakeholder’s business will move forward towards their strategic goals.
  • The Data Analyst will retrieve and gather data, organize it, harmonize it, and use it to reach meaningful conclusions.
  • The Data Analyst’s success is dependent on the ability to work with people—the people you are gathering the research questions from, peers you collaborate with to execute the work, working groups where you may help educate and discuss data issues, and the people you deliver the final presentation to.
  • In this role you support Data Governance Champions in achieving strategic objectives and delivering high quality data to business stakeholders
  • The Data Analyst will utilize processes and technologies that instill discipline to ensure data is complete, consistent, timely, accessible, and accurate and adheres to global privacy rules. 
  • Develop data quality solutions utilizing Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) documenting data quality rules, applying to data quality dimensions
  • Develop data quality reports as an effective mechanism to communicate data quality insights and actions

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Subject Matter Expert on master data management, analysis and quality
  • Runs standard and ad hoc data profiling for domain, facilitating data clean-up, readiness
  • Roots down quality issues in the data domain
  • Proactive analysis of data regarding quality issues (data profiling, deduplication, etc.)
  • Develops and provides KPIs for quality issues using data visualization solutions
  • Consults local data stewards regarding data quality of core data and facilitates improvements to data
  • Facilitates implementation and usage of new KPIs
  • Analyzes, advises and manages usage of and integrates third party datasets
  • Integrates suggestions and feedback of business data stewards in data analysis
  • Responding to requests from data users to analyze and help resolve data problems. 
  • Train other analysts, teams for purpose of self-service
  • Leads working groups as needed, which aim to support governance
  • Participates in projects as needed, and consults on solutions to complex data quality problems
  • Leverage analytical skills to spot data patterns and trace data quality issues back to root cause
  • Influence and collaborate with other departments like Insights Driven Care, Commercial, Customer Service, and the ability to understand how those groups operate and use master data
  • Work independently and partner with end-users and business partners to assess and document data quality requirements
  • Leverage continuous improvement mindset towards data quality making measurable progress towards improving data quality

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in Data and Analytics
  • 1+ years experience with SQL or data modeling
  • 1+ years Data analyst experience

Nice to Have

  • Previous Medtronic experience
  • Familiar with Agile/Scrum development methodology
  • Knowledge of information protection policies.
  • Experience in working across global teams
  • Ability to understand end-audience needs and requirements
  • Detail oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Works well in a global team environment
  • Healthcare industry / business knowledge or experience
  • Experience with Informatica product suite (MDM, IDQ, AXON)
  • Detailed knowledge of tables & datasets related to MDM core master data domains (customer, supplier, product, patient & HCP).
  • Power BI
