About the Role

The Diageo Europe Marketing Procurement team has always been a significant contributor towards Diageo productivity and growth goals and considered a trusted and respected partner internally and externally. Most recently, the Europe Procurement Team came together to review its ambition for the next 2-3 years and has a very clear strategy to exponentially increase the value it brings to Diageo, and also very importantly, how it brings that value. The new strategic priorities have been clearly identified as next generation of investment optimization, continuing to build the appropriate networks, driving a step change in customer sufficiency, enhancing digitalization opportunities, and very prominently accelerating the delivery of our ESG ambition. Diageo Europe includes the Market clusters of Great Britain, Ireland, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Eastern Europe, MENA (Middle East North Africa) and Turkiye.

The Category Specialist will be a member of a team of Category Specialists working directly with Europe Category Managers and Global Category Managers.

As a key person in our dedicated team, your focus in this role is:

  • Gather relevant data from different sources, ensuring its accuracy and completeness.
  • Employ statistical techniques to examine datasets and uncover insights by identifying relationships, trends, and anomalies within the data.
  • Interpret and explain complex analyses to stakeholders, helping them understand the implications and potential outcomes of different courses of action and ensure data driven decision making.
  • Ability to drive strategic outcomes based on the data that exists
  • To apply strategic procurement excellence, through creation and deployment of Europe Category Strategy built on the Global Strategy, Diageo’s best methods, standards, and tools, to deliver procurement value and embed a cost consciousness culture that supports investment optimization.
  • Leading project management and execution driven from opportunity identification through cost, data and process modelling and evaluation. Driving any sourcing, negotiation, supplier relationship management, and contract management as outcomes of projects and for ongoing category management. Delivery of Diageo's Society 2030 ambition. Driving transformational step changes in categories to support the ambition.
  • To deploy category management techniques to deliver value, efficiencies and supporting investment optimization, to deliver best in class procurement spend practices; true end to end sourcing management across the category to deliver (from Due Diligence to Contract Negotiation) to deliver outcomes that transform the category
  • Pro-actively Collaborate with partners building towards full engagement across all Europe markets • Adhere to and always promote the highest standards of compliance. This includes risk management processes and contract management.

About You

For this role we are looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:

  • A dynamic individual with the ability to thrive in an agile and fast-paced environment while finding clarity in ambiguous situations by stimulating alternative thinking. We want you to show high levels of energy and commitment and a relentlessness in the pursuit of goals.
  • Significant experience in Procurement, Finance, FMCG Commercial or another relevant role. Subjectmatter expertise in Marketing spend categories would be advantageous.
  • Proven performance in projects and in cross-market teams, experience developing and carrying out category and procurement strategies, managing and negotiating with agencies/suppliers including forecasting and benchmarking
  • Strong data analytics skills and demonstrated ability to correlate data to generate insights that lead to data driven decision making.
  • Track record of generating insights to influence decision-making.
  • You can demonstrate consistent performance and examples of implementing projects and driving strategic change. You use industry knowledge and research to drive improvements.
  • Strong communication skills are a key strength and you have the ability to articulate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify and problem solve independently
  • Commercial competence, understanding of the business and judgment
  • Objectively challenges established practice to stimulate alternative thinking
