Eaton’s ES AMER DIG division is currently seeking a User Experience Design Manager. This position will be located at our Eaton Pittsburgh PA (Moon Twp) location. This position offers a HYBRID work schedule and will require 10%-15% travel domestically and internationally. 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $112500.0 - $165000.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

We are looking for a User Experience Design Manager to lead our UX design team in North America. In this role, you will lead a team of 4-8 UX designers focused on delivering the best user experience possible for digital products in the region. You’ll coach and work together with an award-

winning group of designers to provide forward thinking concepts and design direction across multiple product lines and services. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional design, problem solving, communication, visualization, and leadership skills. You’ll be part of a multi-functional, global enterprise, and must be a team player. 

In this role:

  • Organizational Design - Prioritize building, developing, and mentoring your team to ensure we have the roles and skill sets to support company goals and cross-team collaboration and alignment, with a commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and employee engagement.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and marketing, to ensure that design is integrated into the product development process.
  • Design Operations - Ensure an efficient and consistent design process, project tracking, and measurement of key performance indicators.
  • User Insights - Incorporate empathy and user understanding into the design process, creating intuitive, engaging, and aesthetically appealing products rooted in qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Design Excellence - Inspire and elevate the level of craft within your UX design team, promoting a passion for design excellence and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Lead regular design critiques and ideation sessions for your teams.
  • Design Platforms - Own the roadmap for developing reusable UX design resources such as: Figma sticker sheets, HMI Guidelines, research templates, recruiting panels, etc
  • Prioritization - Manage your workload effectively by prioritizing assignments and delegating work. You lead continuous improvement with your UX team.
  • Engagement - Participate in ongoing dialogue with your manager and team members to give and receive constructive feedback and drive your own performance and growth.
  • Governance - Ensure compliance with best practices for user research and the design of products and services.

Qualifications:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or another product-design-related discipline OR a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a portfolio of work demonstrating knowledge and application of user experience design, and design research.
  • 8 years or more professional experience in product design and strategy with a strong track record in leading teams and delivering high-quality design work.
  • 3 years or more direct experience in people management and professional development; demonstrated ability to build, manage, develop, and motivate employees, consultants, and contractors.
  • A portfolio or presentation of case studies that demonstrate knowledge and application of user experience design, design research, and Design Thinking. 
  • Must be able to travel 10-15% domestically and internationally
  • All candidates being considered must CURRENTLY reside within a 50-mile radius of the following Eaton locations:Pittsburgh PA (Moon Twp). Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be able to work in the United States of America without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in usability, design research, Design Thinking, and digital user experience design.
  • You’re capable of navigating ambiguity and defining the path forward on the projects you own without detailed direction.
  • A strong working knowledge of software development methodologies and technologies.
  • Experience managing design on consumer facing (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) web and mobile applications.
  • Experience designing for Human-Machine Interface (HMI) devices embedded into hardware.
  • Experience sourcing, vetting, onboarding, and managing design consultants specializing in design strategy, user experience design, and other related disciplines.
  • Strong time and project management skills. An ability to keep a team organized and deliver on project and program goals consistently.
