SUMMARY: This is a director role with responsibility for providing leadership, cohesive communications, accountability and management of the local Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Service and Engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures that all direct reports are familiar with, trained on and follow all Quality System procedures related to their jobs which can affect the quality of products or services provided to our customers and that changes to procedures are reviewed, approved and validated prior to implementation.
  • Lead, manage, direct and coordinate the activities of the China team to remain compliant with local government regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with all external bodies, such as authorities, employer and employee's organizations, industry associations, regional and local institutions, and other public stakeholders.
  • Actively leads development and implementation of the overall strategy for the plant.
  • Facilitates short- and long-range manufacturing planning related to production capacity, facility optimization, quality improvement, departmental expenditure, labor requirement and organizational development.
  • Coordinate with global functions and align on common objectives and joint targets for the functions and resources, including general oversight for activities, projects, and troubleshooting issues when they arise.
  • Lead the personal and professional development of the China management team through continuous improvement, professional development, in-house and external training as well as one-on-one coaching or other available methods.
  • Develops and maintains Operations projects priorities and provides for appropriate organizational structure and resource.
  • Directs all necessary support services to customers and sales force worldwide.
  • Works with direct reports to develop and monitor overall expense and capital budgets.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; motivating, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience 

Experience in overseeing Manufacturing Operations team with a broad understanding of requirements to successfully initiate manufacturing sites and supply chain infrastructure.

Language Skills

English language fluency essential

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Degree in business or engineering; MBA or MSc highly desirable.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with an enterprise mindset and strong knowledge of the China Medical Device manufacturing with preferably medical industry experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience or equivalent demonstrated capability in operations and manufacturing management.
  • Deep understanding of the China manufacturing landscape, including competition for talent, state and local regulations as well as regional challenges.
  • Prior experience managing in a complex environment with multinational facets to operations and operational activities.
  • Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, establish processes and handle competing interests while meeting critical time frames.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, meeting financial targets, improving business processes, and driving cost effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to speak fluently in Chinese and English.
