Job Description Summary

As a member of Project Management Team, you will be responsible for project planning, execution, contract acceptance, customer satisfaction and financial KPI for one or more projects/orders of various kinds like Parts, Services & upgrades related to Power Automation & Control (PAC) product lines e.g. Distributed Control System (DCS), Turbine Controls, Generator Excitation, Generator Protection (GCP/GRP), Generator Health Monitoring (GHM) etc.

This role drives flawless execution of GEPIL’s Power Automation & Controls (PAC) projects, enabling to deliver customer value via key OTR metrics (EHS, Quality, on-time-delivery, cost outs, outage planning etc.), harmonized and integrated tools & processes across the Region, rigorous operating rhythm, and ensuring the return of experience to the project teams for sustainable deliverables for PAC business.

This role aims at delivering increased customer satisfaction through execution & operational excellence.

You will serve as prime interface with different streams e.g., buyers regarding purchase order placement and pricing, with site managers regarding the construction, with engineering regarding technical issues, with project controller for financial performance and with the customer's representative for negotiations, scheduling, progress monitoring and problem solving.

Job Description

Your Role:

  • Participate in the tendering activities for the allocated project to formulate the execution strategy jointly as required during tendering.
  • Participate in the Tender Reviews for allocated projects.
  • Manage the allocated project in order to achieve the project goals, KPIs and objectives.
  • Manage and steer the project team in order to achieve and further improve the cost, schedule, quality and EHS targets.
  • Perform proper risk and opportunity management to take appropriate action for mitigation.
  • Initiate and execute gate reviews as appropriate.
  • Adopt most effective claim strategies along with contracts towards clients, partners, subcontractors, etc.
  • Perform negotiations with clients, partners and/or subcontractors.
  • Prepare and perform Project Reviews as requested.
  • Liaise with the Project Management office & with other Businesses/cross function.
  • Develop and maintain corresponding relationships with clients, partners and main subcontractors to ensure smooth operation of projects and smooth dispute resolution.
  • Ensure safety & quality principles as top priority including risk assessments mechanism/tracking/mitigation including customer satisfaction.
  • Capture return of experience (Lesson Learnt) and best practice.
  • Provide input to project people performance reviews to functions.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of quality information, material, workmanship, field service and product performance.
  • Review and manage the project schedule and approve changes, ensuring all contract parameters are being met.
  • Approve all purchase orders for contract materials, services and Quality Assurance and Control requirements.
  • Issue various periodic reports detailing financial and schedule status of project (s).
  • Serve as prime interface with customer and consortiums to resolve issues of mutual concern.
  • Enhance financial return to GE through controlled project execution strategy.
  • Effect a timely contract completion with customer satisfaction.
  • Manage project risks to avoid paying large warranty repairs, significant debit notes, or L/Ds for performance or delay.
  • Take an instrumental role with Sales to promote future business with Customer/Consortiums.
  • Ensure all project execution & project management process compliances across projects.
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a project contractual & commercial disciplines and analytical thinking to execute projects as per customer/business need.
  • Working with SAP for financial control & tracing of projects.
  • Control and measures on Changes Management during project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement through identification and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronic Engineering. Exposure to project management programs/courses/experience will be additional advantage.
  • With overall 8-10 year of experience & minimum 4-6 Years experience in Project management activities for Automation or equivalent products/projects.
  • Basic Knowledge of SAP, Planning Tools (MS Projects, Primavera).
  • Awareness of GE Automation product lines will have added advantage.
  • Travel to project sites as and when needed (approx. 20%)
