Job Summary:

The candidate shall perform investigative technical evaluations and studies necessary to complete the information requested. Services required to complete the request include research on reparability of equipment including repair sources, equipment reliability and obsolescence

The candidate shall provide miscellaneous electrical, electronic, mechanical, structural, civil and software engineering services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist Item managers, Planners, Technicians and Equipment Specialists on equipment obsolescence, unavailability and suitability/usability issues.
  • Researches and provides documentation and data to support procurement activities and related qualification testing criteria. Items may include fabrication, repair and testing services. Research may also include policy, guidance and metrics associated with system support. Results of studies and research will also support Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC) engineering drafting services and technical library requirements.
  • The candidate will support Program Office activities to include assisting Integrated Logistics Support Managers (ILSM’s), Provisioners and management in the setup and supply support activities to ensure the FAALC can support the equipment. These activities may also include review of program level documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Technician and Production Control support to include troubleshooting, providing documentation, metrics, repair, time and labor standards, and assisting with any quality issues associated with product, product conformance or Customer Service Actions (CSA’s). This may include failure analysis, prediction or root cause evaluation.
  • Support technicians in test bed repair and maintenance to achieve maximum system utilization. May also design/preform automated test equipment work and develop/modify test program sets to aid in production effectiveness.
  • Prepare product Structures (Bills of materials) and associated parts within the IFS software suite. Processes include documentation creation, connecting documents, maintenance, and associated IFS tasks.
  • Support to field personnel as required consisting of troubleshooting, documentation support and documentation generation for electronic or mechanical systems. Objectives may also include on-site support of equipment, problem analysis, equipment repair, installation, modification and test.
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical and electromechanical designs for new products.
  • Assist in the development of fabrication/repair cost estimates for machining, sheet metal, paint, corrosion prevention, electrical cable assemblies.
  • Development of prototyping various components for NAS/CBP systems.
  • Creation and modifying bill of materials and product structures for various NAS/CBP components.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Utilize experience in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD to create and modify technical drawings.
  • Analyzing metal material properties such as strength, hardness, toughness, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature performance and determine appropriate application.
  • Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
  • Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs and applying principles of mechanics and materials.
  • Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from customers.
  • Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience which shall include the following:
  • Experience performing analyses of mechanical components and systems, developing specifications, designing modifications and revisions, identifying mechanical components materials, and producing engineering technical documentation.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position with ability to obtain and maintain Pubic Trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of machine shop tooling procedures and mechanical item production techniques is highly desired.
  • Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and production is highly desired.
