About the Role:

Chanel is looking for a Senior Group Director, US Diversity & Inclusion to join our People & Organization Team in New York. You will play a leading role in providing leadership, strategy, and coordination to advance Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) at Chanel. At Chanel, we are on a mission to foster an environment where we can continue to: feel our voices will be heard; know that we are represented; and trust that together we will strive to provide the conditions to be at our best so Chanel can be at its best. This Senior Group Director, Diversity & Inclusion will foster Chanel’s culture, mission, purpose, and values to our internal employees as well as external candidates. In collaboration with managers and employees at all levels, this role develops and implements D&I strategies, particularly in the areas of leadership and team development, psychological safety, employee resource group programming, and impactful team initiatives across the organization.

D&I Strategy & Advisement 

  • Collaborate with impassioned employees, People & Organization, Global D&I, and key stakeholders in order to understand the ongoing needs of the organization, evolve the D&I strategy, and communicate effectively against those needs 
  • Leverage business data, employee feedback, and best practices to influence and collaborate with cross functional teams to identify and drive action items to increase inclusion and drive initiatives through key cross-functional working groups across organization 
  • Tap into the external market to bring best in class thought leadership and a range of D&I expertise in to the organization 
  • Manage & leverage D&I Dashboard to measure D&I progress against our goals and analyze effectiveness of D&I programming 
  • Fully own the US D&I strategy, including prioritization and implementation of D&I initiatives and programming – ensuring we are best supporting the needs of our employees and continuing to drive long-term and scalable impact 
  • Lead the US D&I community and resource groups and evolve priorities according to needs 
  • Partner with People & Organization centers of excellence and business partners to ensure integration of D&I work into broader talent strategies and recruiting and career development processes 
  • BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF Chanel’s Global D&I Community to encourage alignment, connection, and knowledge sharing across regions 
  • Provide strategic leadership on policies, best practices and change management in D&I to foster a climate of inclusiveness 
  • Provide policy updates to colleagues, ensuring legal compliance 

Development & Engagement 

  • Work with leadership at all levels to support inclusive leadership concepts, encouraging brave conversations and fostering a workplace where employees can bring their whole selves to work 
  • Facilitate learning programs and influence thinking during dialogue and meetings 
  • Leverage learnings from employee perspective and feedback to create and facilitate D&I curriculum across a wide range of topics and facets throughout all levels of the organization 
  • Advise Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) ON the strategy for diversity & inclusion, in alignment with the organizations mission, including frequent interactions with ERG leadership and members 
  • Support ERG programming and events to ensure sustainable internal resourcing as well as alignment to the organizational D&I mission 
  • Support formation of new ERG’s as well as upkeep of ERG policy and procedure 
  • Develop clear guidance, tools and resources to better support our key D&I stakeholders 
  • Develop key internal and external relationships to deliver D&I initiatives 
  • Manage external vendors, stretch assignments, and potential interns who are brought onto the team to support our D&I vision and initiatives

What you will bring to the team: 

  • Experience in organizational Diversity & Inclusion, implementing programs, and introducing innovative D&I initiatives to the workplace preferred (including experience designing/ implementing sponsorship/ mentoring programs) 
  • Experience in organizational change management; recruitment, retention, people development and implementation and evaluation of programs including facilitation 
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, including senior leaders 
  • Ability to create and sustain an environment of psychological safety; learning about the needs of all employees with a commitment and passion to those from historically underrepresented groups 
  • Ability to bring the outside in – leveraging D&I network/ research and sharing out relevant D&I best practices 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) 
  • Project management skills 
  • Data driven approach to drive accountability across the organization, track/ measure progress, and yield longstanding D&I impact 
  • Growth mindset – including bringing deep D&I expertise and POVs, flagging risks/ concerns, and providing recommendations on best path forward given identified constraints/ risks 
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills with the ability to positively engage and motivate others 
  • Deep understanding of the attributes of Psychological Safety and experience designing and facilitating Psychological Safety trainings 
  • Experience working with retail/ field teams preferred 

Position Logistics: 

  • Minimum of 12 years' experience leading transformational programs and change management with an emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging 
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in a related discipline preferred 
  • New York City based
  • Travel up to 30% 

Compensation:

  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $166,000 through $215,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
