Director, Diversity & Inclusion

The Director, Diversity & Inclusion is a member of the People Leadership Team reporting to the Chief People Officer and leads the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee.  AppNexus is committed to creating a global inclusive community where all AppNexians feel safe being their authentic self in all aspects of work at AppNexus. About the team:

The mission of the People team is to recruit, engage, and develop a diverse, global community of AppNexians to help AppNexus achieve its mission of creating a better internet.  The Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee fosters a diverse community and inclusive culture within AppNexus and beyond by advancing D&I in our talent pipeline, thought leadership, employee training, and corporate practices. We believe that AppNexus and all AppNexians have a responsibility to create a community in which everyone feels involved, valued and respected. We do this through a D&I Steering Committee co-chaired by our Chief People Officer and General Counsel which focuses on diversifying the pipeline, creating an inclusive global AppNexus community and galvanizing our broader community. 

About the job:

Key partnerships include:
  • Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Steering Committee: foster a diverse community and inclusive culture within AppNexus and beyond
  • Executive Committee and Operating Team: ensure alignment with our executive and senior management team and consult with them on best practices to foster a diverse and inclusive AppNexus  
  • Talent Acquisition Group: embed recruiting best practices and develop key partnerships to create a diverse workforce of highly talented AppNexians
  • People Growth: embed D&I best practices into our employee onboarding and development programs
  • People Operations & Analytics: define and implement metrics and measurement tools; as well as to integrate D&I strategy into key business processes such as talent management and goal setting
  • People Experience: infuse D&I concepts into companywide cultural and values programs and events
  • People Partners: consult and collaborate with functional leaders to foster diversity and inclusion within their organizations to improve organizational effectiveness and innovation
  • Legal: design and roll out policies which align with and support D&I efforts and to help align AppNexus Impact, our Corporate Social Good initiative, with our D&I strategy 
  • Corporate Communications: share our D&I best practices with external communities

Responsibilities include:
  • Define, plan, and execute the Global AppNexus D&I Strategy leading to create a more diverse and inclusive community where AppNexians feel safe being their authentic selves in all aspects of work 
  • Lead the AppNexus D&I Steering Committee 
  • Integrate Global D&I Strategy into business processes such as recruitment, talent management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention
  • Support functional leaders and their leadership teams to develop D&I functional plans and operations while integrating the Global D&I Strategy and best practices 
  • Cultivate effectiveness and advocate for the needs of the AppNexus’ Affinity Groups
  • Report on goals, strategies, and progress to the AppNexus Board of Directors, executive and senior management teams, and the broader company

About your skills: 

  • 4+ years’ experience focused on diversity and inclusion in the workplace, 10+ years of professional experience
  • Experience in the technology and high growth sector and a familiarity with technology teams is very helpful
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building relationships and influencing others while managing large scale change in a global context
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to translate metrics and research into strategy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
