About the opportunity

The Transport Planning & Mobility Solutions at Jacobs is one of the most successful in Ireland and the UK, with a varied client base and strong pipeline of work, alongside supporting project teams across the globe. Our local team is involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering all elements of transport planning including traffic modelling, economic appraisal, active modes, public transport, traffic engineering, policy & strategy formation and business case development.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our Irish Transport Planning Team. You will ideally have experience in bus network and service planning, and/or in the delivery of bus infrastructure, including terminals. 

You will be based in our Dublin office, and you will work on local projects, whilst also interacting with our colleagues across Ireland, the UK, and globally. There is also the opportunity to take up a secondment role for a period of time with one of our key clients.

Our local teams get involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering active travel, streets design, traffic engineering and local junction design/modelling. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience of the development and progression of active travel and mass transit, transformational placemaking, and traffic management solutions. We are currently assisting with the BusConnects programme for Ireland’s National Transport Authority, in addition to active travel schemes for Dublin City Council.

You will have the support of a line manager and our experts to guide your progress and will have an opportunity to share your skills and knowledge by training and supporting our junior staff. This role will allow you to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to chase new opportunities.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • To be degree qualified in a relevant discipline (or equivalent); you will have extensive experience in the transport planning field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects
  • Have achieved or be working towards Chartered Transport Planning Professional or other relevant professional e.g. CEng, CTP.
  • To be a creative, solution-oriented individual who considers multiple perspectives to identify different solutions
  • A desire to develop your technical skills and the ability work independently in the field of transport planning
  • Experience of a number of transport planning fields, such as business case development, scheme feasibility, transport assessments and/or modelling
  • To be able to manage tasks using appropriate programme, budget and quality controls
  • Flexibility to manage a varied workload, assist with business opportunities and embrace new technologies, product solutions and the future evolution of the industry
