The Opportunity

This Manager Electrical Engineering position works out of our Scottsdale,AZ location. 

This role leads Electrical Engineering Team in the medical devices microelectronics assembly facility. Partner with Development and sister Operations sites to create and/or sustain automated test equipment (ATE) steps, Burn In, or other reliability screens and product troubleshooting methods. Provide operations inputs with Development organizations to ensure testability and operational constraints are factored into designs. Identify cost-reduction and field performance improvement opportunities by tracking fault isolation and yield trends.

  • Responsible for hiring and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff and for providing career coaching, growth, and personal development. Accountable for the staff development; critiques, instructs, mentors, evaluates, and coaches. Accountable for the performance of subordinates and work output of managed subcontractors.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and a strong customer focus.
  • Manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives and strategies for electrical engineering engineers and technicians. 
  • Set expectations and objectives for assigned functional areas/direct reports and monitors progress to objectives.
  • Prepare and delivers presentations to senior management as required. 
  • Direct and make decisions on resolving any systematic problems to improve efficiency and speed of activities associated electrical engineering systems.
  • Collaborate on new device planning, sharing knowledge and innovative design.
  • Coordinate and manage resources to meet detailed project timelines and milestones. 
  • Ensure that the proper documentation systems are implemented meeting Abbott productivity objectives.
  • Develop and direct activities of the corrective and preventive action process.
  • Remain current on developments in field(s) of expertise, regulatory requirements, and industry trends through literature, trade journals, university associations, and by attending scientific conferences.
  • Resolve and/or facilitate resolution of problems including identifying root causes to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, a related field or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of progressively more responsible work experience in a high technology manufacturing environment required.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience at a supervisory/managerial level.
  • Requires high developed leadership skills and experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this position, including the ability to map task interdependencies, prioritize such tasks, meet deadlines, and develop, monitor and live within budgets as well as the demonstrated ability to forecast major milestones.
  • Must be skilled at delegation, follow-up and team building.
  • Project leadership and management skills required. 
  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes and designing for manufacturability. 
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. 
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with semiconductor design, manufacture, and performance
  • Experience with semiconductor component packaging
  • Proficient with circuits, circuit diagrams, input/output diagrams
  • Able to set electrical design requirements based on functional requirements
  • Familiar with SPICE modeling and able to evaluate electrical circuit performance
  • Familiar with electrical circuit debug analysis
  • Experience analyzing performance yields at component, wafer and assembly level to determine the most cost effective manufacturing strategy

The base pay for this position is

$90,700.00 – $181,300.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
