Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a multi-campus, baccalaureate and graduate degree granting public institution, is the most affordable public state university in Georgia. MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Its enrollment of 8,000 students is largely comprised of students from most of Georgia's 159 counties. 'The Special Assistant to the President for Accreditation and Strategic Planning assists the President of Middle Georgia State University in the implementation of assigned programming to include serving as SACSCOC Liaison. The Special Assistant develops, coordinates, and implements a broad range of high-level projects aligned with institutional accreditation, institutional goals, the strategic plan, and President-initiated activities. This position serves as a member of the President's Cabinet, is organizationally located within the Office of the President, and reports directly to the President.
Accreditation leadership, coordination and advising on SACSCOC (40%) -
Serves as Institutional Accreditation Liaison for SACSCOC
Coordinates among vice presidents, deans, and directs compliance requirements for SACSCOC.
Prepares for the President's signature communications to SACSCOC.
Provides training to vice presidents, deans, and directors on SACSCOC requirements.
Strategic Plan Oversight (20%) -
Works with Cabinet and VPs to maintain the SP site and its quarterly reports.
Works with Cabinet, Director of Audits, and VPs to complete quarterly and annual ERM reports to the University System of Georgia.
Campus Coordination Assessment (15%) -
Works with Provost/VPAA or delegate to assess Campus Coordination Committee work.
Coordinates Accreditation Calendar and Assistance with School Leadership (10%) -
Collaborates with deans and schools seeking specialized program accreditation and coordinates alignment with SACSCOC processes.
University Internal Audits (10%) -
Provides oversight, guidance, and leadership to the Office of Internal Audit.
Other Duties (5%) -
Completes other duties as assigned by the President.
Educational Requirements
Earned doctorate in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required Experience
Seven years combined accreditation experience and higher education leadership within an institution or an accrediting agency.
Management and cross functional collaboration experience
Preferred Experience
Experience on SACSCOC off-site or on-site committees.
