Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager

System One

System One is assisting a client in hiring a Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager for their manufacturing facility in North Houston.

Location: 77032 near IAH

COMP: $80,000 - $92,000

  • 7-10 years of experience handling import and export processes, requiring a strong understanding of the technical aspects of transportation channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Supply Chain Management and or relevant years of experience.
  • Must be an independent self-starter, who has excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires an excellent understanding of logistic areas of shipping, customs clearance, cost analysis, information systems, demonstrated knowledge of the distribution/traffic business. 
  • Able to work as a team member as well as an individual and under pressure situations. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and Power BI. Willing to work extended hours when necessary to accomplish business needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide master scheduling and process management for the Logistics Team, as well as strong team leadership, to ensure the team is performing at a high level. 

Develop, implement, and continuously improve management plan for logistics at the Product Company.

Responsible for all areas of logistics/transportation including process design, safety, compliance with DOT regulations, cost efficiency for the team, and customer service. 

Work with other teams to resolve logistics related issues and provide customer support, when needed.

Generate KPI’s for the Logistics team.

Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.

Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce.

Assess and recommend an ideal mode of transportation which is effective based on time, cost, and other determining factors.

Responsible for reviewing logistics requirements and developing a plan, soliciting competitive bids, and selecting a vendor.

Develop freight forwarder base, negotiate pricing contracts, monitor performance, and maintain relationships to ensure the company continues to receive the best overall value.

Lead and develop the Trade Compliance for the Product Company.

Assist with processing duty drawbacks claims and Temporary Import Bonds.

Audit imports for verifying compliance with correct HTS codes.

Approve freight invoices and maintaining a spend file.

Follow the “Safety First” policy with the vision of zero work related accidents. Take all necessary actions to employ sustainable processes to safeguard the company’s targets for Quality/Environmental/Safety and Health.

Perform other duties as assigned.
