Job Title

Senior Digital Product Designer

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Our goal is to become our industry’s leader in exceptional digital experiences. We’re putting strategy, research, design principles, and technical innovation at the centre of everything we do, and we need exceptional designers, like you, to bring our process to life.

Product designers shape the experiences we create through each of our digital products. As a member of our team, you’ll work within an agile environment and iterative process, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders to analyze, design and convey your design vision.

You’ll use your expertise to delight users with designs that inspire, engage and excite. A natural problem solver, communicator and facilitator, you’ll be involved in every step of the process from idea generation to implementation.

What you would work on

Design Strategy

  • Understand user interface patterns and behaviours, and use that understanding to drive user comprehension, and improve task performance
  • Use visualizations and interactions to support analytic thinking with large data sets
  • Facilitate design critique, evaluate interactions for inclusivity and provide expert advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative work activities

Artifact Creation

  • Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data and best practices to inform design decisions
  • Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas, as well as complex prototypes to provide delivery specifications for development

Research and Testing

  • Facilitate usability testing
  • Perform pattern, micro-interaction and component design audits where appropriate

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Portfolio that includes application design samples
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
  • Experience in an applied research setting including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rational and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions
  • Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, and UserTesting.com

Nice to have

  • MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field
  • Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
  • Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • You’ll find yourself in a culture where designers feel included, valued, and heard; in a supportive environment surrounded by peers who exceed in their area of expertise
  • You’ll work on solutions used by millions of people and contribute to a company that truly values customer experience and remains a Global Digital leader
  • You’ll be part of a team that’s pushing the boundaries of digital product design as we strive to improve the lives of the people and communities we serve
  • Work/life balance is important to us; you will be part of a company that values your time
