Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Manager will be responsible for assisting in the enterprise-wide Statutory Transfer Pricing (STP) Policy Management & Compliance (PM&C) efforts based on RBC's Statutory Transfer Pricing (STP) Policies. The Manager will be part of RBC's STP Centre of Excellence (CoE) assisting in the effort to ensure that RBC satisfies all global STP and related tax requirements consistently and comprehensively.

What will you do?

Support the STP PM&C Senior Managers in ensuring full compliance with relevant transfer pricing internal and external reporting requirements, which includes:

  • The creation and management of STP transfer pricing documentation in compliance with the RBC Transfer Pricing Documentation Policy.
  • Assisting to ensure the accurate implementation of processes for the identification of new intercompany transactions and the documentation of new global STP policies and methodologies.
  • Contributing to the automation and centralization of the global STP target operating model along with STP’s Governance and Implementation teams to form a Centre of Excellence for our Taxation, Finance and Business partners in providing comprehensive, consistent and transparent STP support.
  • Supporting RBC Taxation with intercompany tax reporting and provides audit support to satisfy global tax authority STP requirements.
  • Providing advice on and recommendations related RBC STP policies.
  • Assisting the STP Governance team and Taxation in responding to tax audit queries arising from tax return information related to transfer pricing and related party transactions.
  • In conjunction with RBC Taxation, assisting in the implementation of new transfer pricing guidance and legislation.
  • Assisting in the development of overall risk mitigation and loss prevention strategies and processes.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • At least 4 years of experience as a tax transfer pricing practitioner, preferably with experience in the financial services industry.
  • Good understanding of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Transfer Pricing Guidelines, the OECD Report on the Attribution of Profits to Permanent Establishments and Canadian transfer pricing rules and practices, as well as working knowledge of foreign transfer pricing documentation requirements in key jurisdictions in which RBC operates.
  • Basic knowledge of international corporate taxation and key provisions in the major tax treaties, specifically on taxation of permanent establishments, presence of dependent agent permanent establishments, as well as knowledge of Canadian federal income tax.
  • Team player that can thrive in an environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Display strong leadership qualities that motivate and drive to impact.

Nice-to-have

  • Working knowledge of financial and managerial accounting systems within RBC or another global financial institution would be an asset.
  • Ideally, will have worked in a big 4 accounting firm and/or in the financial services industry and/or at RBC.
  • Accounting designation (CA, CPA, etc.), MBA or equivalent education.
