Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management (TATM):

NC State’s Wilson College of Textiles, and the Department of Textile and Apparel Technology and Management, prepares future leaders for the textile, apparel, home, furniture, fashion and retail industries.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, our undergraduate and graduate programs incorporate global marketplace dynamics with a strategic management focus. Our graduates incorporate art/design and science/technology with management concepts in creative problem-solving. Our program is equipped with access and experiences utilizing the latest industry technologies. The majority of the students have an enriching and intensive study abroad experience. Our program faculty works closely with industry partners, including the department’s Industry Advisory Board, to develop academic and experiential real-world learning experiences. Essential Job DutiesThe Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management is searching for a faculty member in Textile Brand Management and Marketing.

Responsibilities include teaching, independent scholarly research, and participation in recruitment, shared governance, and other activities of the Department, the Wilson College of Textiles and the University.

Preferred areas of expertise include Marketing, Management, Consumer Behavior and Retailing.

The successful candidate should be proficient in theory and management methods in fashion and textiles, including consumer, retailer and manufacturing perspectives. They must be able to communicate and work effectively with faculty, students, and staff.

The candidate will also be able to demonstrate competence in quantitative/qualitative research methods that advance knowledge in the field, contribute to graduate student mentoring, build a record of successful grant writing, and be capable of collaborating with industry partners on projects and research.

Minimum Education and Experience 

  • Candidates must have a PhD in Textiles Management, Marketing, Retailing/Merchandising or a closely aligned field.
  • Faculty rank may be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level depending upon qualifications and experience.

Other Required Qualifications 

  • The successful candidate should be proficient in theory and management methods in fashion and textiles including consumer, retailer and manufacturing perspectives and demonstrate competence in quantitative/qualitative research methods to drive knowledge in the field. 
  • Candidates at Assistant level should demonstrate potential for leadership in research, grant writing, and teaching; experience in research and teaching is preferred. 
  • Candidates at the Associate level should demonstrate a strong publication record, successful record of grant writing, collaboration with industry partners on projects and research and teaching.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Candidates with industry experience and/or strong collaboration with industry partners are preferred.
