Purpose of Role

The Under Armour team is looking for a Director, Global Internal Communications. We are on the hunt for a passionate, strategic and energetic internal/teammate communications lead to manage our employee comms and engagement efforts. Responsible for driving Under Armour’s internal comms strategy and delivering a compelling and cohesive narrative, this role will work with senior leadership and a variety of global stakeholders to shape messaging and ensure our teammates are informed, engaged and inspired. 

Reporting to our Chief Communications Officer, this role will build and execute innovative tactics to elevate and champion the voice of the brand internally, during a key moment in UA’s history. The Director, Global Internal Communications will develop and execute strategic company-wide initiatives, programs, events, campaigns and announcements that drive impact and engagement. 

Your Impact

  • Build on and successfully drive Under Armour’s internal communications strategy. 
  • Oversee internal communications strategy, and internal brand voice.
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing and Communications colleagues to develop a full-funnel of internal marketing campaigns that inspire employees to evangelize UA’s purpose, and core values. Ensure there is alignment and consistency between internal and external activations, experiences and communications. 
  • Support the brand’s Quarterly Town Hall series, including but not limited to run of show development, Speaker prep, and scheduling. 
  • Refresh and infuse fun and surprise + delight into the brand’s internal communications platforms, including but not limited to the company newsletter and intranet. 
  • Proactively identify and create new opportunities to continually up level our communications programs.
  • Cultivate unique and unexpected tactics to engage teammates, particularly as the majority of our corporate teammate base works from home due to current climate.
  • Partner closely with the internal events team on company events like Town Hall, Teammate Talks, and more.
  • Partner with leadership team/staff to bring company goals, values and vision to life internally. 
  • Provide strategic advice, counsel and communications support 
  • Support overall company growth, and purpose goals. 
  • Define and implement cultural best practices, utilizing strategic thinking and creativity to increase employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff to ensure growth and future success. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing teams.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and provide counsel to internal partners.
  • Direct experience building brands.
  • Excellent verbal communicator, brilliant writer, strong editor to create compelling messaging and narratives, (minus the corporate-speak).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, and at times, ambiguous environment.
  • You’re a strong writer and storyteller who can distill complex concepts, craft a compelling narrative, and build an emotional connection.
  • Possess top-notch interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience working and editing within digital and print mediums. 
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills, able to set own priorities, and work under deadline pressure. 
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • 10 years of experience in employee communications and/or change communications - working in a global retail organization is a plus. 
  • BA/BS degree in Journalism, English, or Communications preferred. 

Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD Office
  • Return to Work Designation: 3 days a week in-office, the remainder of work week remote. 

Relocation

Base Compensation

$148,422.00 - $204,080.80 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position. UA is committed to helping our teammates succeed and advance in their careers. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
