Communities of color disproportionately bear environmental burdens. Without leaders who share the values of those communities, their challenges will remain. MobilizeGreen develops leaders who share the values of the communities most impacted by climate change.

The VirtualIntern, which is powered by MobilizeGreen, is launching the Building Capacity, Careers, & Community Internship Initiative, a cohort intern program that partners with nonprofits and other organizations to place college-level students in short-term, project-based virtual internships in communities across the country. The Initiative seeks to close the widespread “career experience” and “economic opportunity” gap for college-level students from underserved communities by removing barriers and helping them launch their careers through paid virtual internships.

As a virtual intern, you will be paired with a nonprofit organization and will real-world project-based learning, soft skills training, and career readiness development. The project driven internships will including the following projects:

  • Sustainability & The Environment
  • Community Engagement
  • Project Management
  • Finance & Operations
  • Marketing & Communications
  • Philanthropy & Fundraising
  • Data & Technology
  • Other

You may apply to work on up to 3 of the projects.

The internship is paid and requires an 8-week commitment. Stipends are between $5,400 - $7,360 for the program, depending on academic level. Interns must commit to full-time work during core business hours. You will receive ongoing training/professional development opportunities throughout the internship.

Requirements:

  • You must be a rising college junior, senior, or graduate student with a demonstrated interest in or passion for nonprofit management, equity, and environmental justice.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite/Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn information technology and database management systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must have excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects, showing strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, extremely organized, and comfortable working remotely while developing and building relationships.
  • Commitment to teamwork, good interpersonal skills, can-do positive attitude, and professional etiquette.
  • Ability to work respectfully with people of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
