Job Description

Someone that understands software development life cycle. Software infrastructure experience.

RL DEV Infra team, our engineers build the infrastructure for all of the engineers who work on reality labs, so when you create a diff, when you test the diff, when you push it out to customers, for the devices, our team builds that infrastructure for those teams.

Three main locations, based out of Burlingame/SF area, Seattle, and London.

Not only do we build the infrastructure, we help build the narrative for the reality labs team as to how to improve developer efficiency, and then get code to our customers faster, whether that’s new features or fixes. We’re building a lot of data around the science on how you get this done, and we need documentation to support that. We are the team that supports RL, we also partner really closely with central dev infra, and they are doing the same job but for Instagram, WhatsApp, FB ads, not devices. Our team is very device specific.

This person will not only be working with engineers to help them build the content, and make it relatable, but also with the central infrastructure’s tech writing team who is building out the content for other parts of the business.

High priority business need, and when comes to the complexity of the problem stories that we’re telling, this person is going to help people who are the highest in their field make reason and sense about what they’re doing in terms of the bigger picture. Working with engineers who don’t know quite why the systems interact with each other, or how to better the environment, which is an exciting place to be in to impact change, changing underlying mechanisms of Meta as a whole, but also having the visibility at a very high level.

Really complex space, not just shipping products, not just trying to get something over the finish line, we’re trying to impact and change how people work at one of the biggest companies of the world. The systems are really complex, would really love someone that understands software development life cycle.

Start the project by building out the documentation tree and what all the information for the developers is going to need to look like across the types of developers as well as the parts of the business. Technical writers will be working on very specific case stories and working with not only the data team to understand how we latter up all of the information, but also with the engineering managers and engineering teams that are building the systems. Closest partnerships are going to be within engineering and with each other, as well as the manager who is the product lead, and their director.

Set of specific outcomes for execution and engagement, and we’re going to have some counter metrics for how engagement is improving the developer experience that we would expect this person to contribute to. Mainly be on engagement of content and content creation against a timeline.
