SAIC is looking for a Training and Simulation Chief Engineer who is passionate about helping our customers develop and deploy solutions that meet current and future maritime challenges. 

Our Chief Engineer must be an experienced technologist with technical breadth and depth coupled with strong interpersonal skills. 

As Chief Engineer, you will work directly with one of our fastest growing customers as well as internal account leaders and program managers to ensure continuous and repeatable deployment of innovative training and simulation solutions. 

Our Chief Engineer will lead development of capabilities and solutions and provide prescriptive guidance across application of maritime based solutions. 

Additionally, the Chief Engineer will ensure engineering tools, processes and human resources are poised and trained to deliver solutions to the customer.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of large-scale distributed hardware and software solutions, and experience leading deep architecture discussions, and hands on experience. 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Leads program team in the performance of Systems Engineering activities, including: Concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting and design, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, system integration, system and operational performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis and estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications.
  • Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • From an electrical and information technology perspective, may be concerned with floor layout, power and cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management and automation.
  • Lead deep architectural milestone review discussions and design exercises to create world-class solutions built on SAIC's capabilities while ensuring those solutions are designed for successful customer integration
  • Build deep relationships with customer senior leadership and technical individuals to enable them to meet mission objectives
  • Technical lead on capture efforts entailing compilation of labor and material estimates, authors the technical volume and supports customer engagement events

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more of related experience.
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of the product life-cycle design, development, production, and sustainment of physical products.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work across functional boundaries and build a team is required
  • Ability to hire, develop, motivate, direct and retain staff
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and delegate
  • Ability to effectively represent the company/program
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage interpersonal relations and conflicts
  • Ability to use objectivity, creativity and analytical ability to solve problems
  • Experience working with external customers (pre-sales, consulting, technology/software sales)
  • Technical degree required; Engineering background desired
  • Ability to estimate and propose technical scope of work

Desired Experience:

  • Hands on working knowledge of solution development tools and methodologies
  • Experience architecting/operating solutions for the DoN, shipboard design, build and integration experience desired
  • Communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with Navy Leadership
