Administrative Full-time New Position

The Manager, User Experience & Design will oversee the UI/UX Designers, work closely with Corporate Communications and the web committee, and be a key voice in the research, planning, and implementation of the corporate website and other college branded sites.

The successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a remote work arrangement with one day a month on-site at Conestoga College’s 3065 King St. location.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets with key stakeholders to discuss website project needs
  • Works with the Director of Marketing to prioritize UI/UX needs
  • Continues to improve UI/UX for all web users
  • Strategizes to develop yearly web plans focusing on new trends and technologies to improve the UI/UX experience
  • Acts as the Marketing lead for all web project intake processes; organizes priority levels on the project board
  • Prepares reports and summarize results for the Director of Marketing and senior management
  • Integrates research and analytics into UX/UI strategic planning
  • Conducts user research, identifies pain points, and develops solutions to improve the user experience and increase conversion rates
  • Manages stakeholder expectations, negotiates priorities, and balances user needs with business goals
  • Has a thorough understanding of all areas of the college’s websites and how they function individually to meet users’ needs and as a unified representation of the College
  • Acts as a facilitator for other departments, aiming to solve problems, remove impediments, conciliate different points of view, and promote conditions to deliver the best user experience (always considering restrictions related to technology, deadlines, employee availability, business needs and user’s needs)
  • Manages UI/UX daily/weekly/monthly projects based on the needs of stakeholders and the Marketing department
  • Develops best practices for the UX/UI department employees for all areas of employees' job description
  • Sets design standards, develops design processes and workflows, and ensures the team delivers high-quality designs that meet or exceed user expectations
  • Coaches and mentors team members, providing feedback on their work, and identifying areas for improvement
  • Prioritizes, plans and executes project intake form submissions and triages necessary projects
  • Strategizes and develops UX/UI best practices to support the college's strategic goals for domestic and international recruitment
  • Contributes to the yearly branding campaign and leads web development to support online campaign strategies
  • Explores new technologies that can assist users when browsing websites, including, but not limited to AI, search, research technologies

Qualifications:

  • Three-year Diploma/Degree in the area of Web Design, Interaction Design, Interactive Multimedia, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Minimum nine years of experience designing and developing complex websites with an understanding of corporate branding and user experience in digital media is required
  • Project management and leadership skills are essential (including JIRA etc.)
  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of current web standards and best practices around UI/UX design (e.g., accessible design, cross-platform compatibility, consistent information architecture, fonts, and call-to-actions)
  • Proven computer skills and proficiency in UX Strategy, Templating, AODA design and advanced knowledge of PC and Macintosh platforms, graphic design, Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Office and other web prototyping tools and frameworks for rapid web concept development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (SharePoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultative skills to work effectively with a wide variety of clients/stakeholders, management, and technical staff
