Position Overview

The Head of Private Markets EMEA role is primarily responsible for the definition and execution of State Street’s for Private Markets in EMEA. This role reports to the Global Head of Private Markets & Credit, and will work across all investment manager types in EMEA that are investing in private assets, including alternatives managers, traditional asset managers, asset owners, and allocators. The incumbent would be responsible for managing and growing our business in this key region to expand our wallet share and make us a strategic partner of choice. This role would work closely with peers in the global sales, operational teams and the global product organizations to ensure delivery of an outstanding client experience. Key aspects of the role include a full understanding of all State Street products, ensure high service quality provision, analyzing and communicating client requirements, determining growth opportunities, directing a portion of the strategic investment budget, and ultimately delivering on our financial goals for the business in EMEA. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and execute State Street engagement strategy for the Private Market sectors in EMEA. Define a single solution approach to market our Private Markets strategy inclusive of Alpha front to back office capabilities.
  • Create a dedicated organization encompassing product solutions, development and management to determine how to design and deliver capabilities that will allow State Street to materially expand market share in EMEA.
  • Working in conjunction with the Commercial Organization and Country Heads, identify new business with existing clients and prospect clients to drive growth.
  • Defend and grow our Private Markets business by addressing capability gaps and improving sales force effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain highly strategic and collaborative relationships within Private Markets. Utilize industry network to penetrate market and build our business further. Serve as State Street’s “face to the market’ in EMEA for privates.
  • Target clients currently at competitors or insourced with pre-emptive bids and bold outsourcing proposals.
  • Work with global product and operational teams to influence and drive product improvement, innovation and new capabilities to ensure we are competitive and in an optimal position to win business
  • Drive Thought Leadership via marketing and social media to ensure this position and State Street are recognized in the industry.
  • Increase State Street market reputation as a global leader of products and services to the Private Market sector in EMEA.
  • Drive a solutions driven, client centric culture.
  • Manage the Private Markets & Credit total P&L for EMEA.

  • Head of Private Markets EMEA reports to the Global Head of Private Markets & Credit. 
  • Role must work across all State Street organizational elements to maximize business opportunities
  • Dedicated team to be identified to support Private Markets EMEA. 
  • Goal setting
  • Financial Goals, wallet share for segment and existing clients goals as well as client acquisition goals are set by the Commercial Organization with significant input from the Global and Regional business heads.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Head of Private Markets EMEA will own the full P&L for the region
  • Must drive sustainable balanced revenue growth across the entire product spectrum of the firm
  • Must drive sustainable margin improvement in segment
  • Must sell the right types of solutions that contribute to scale, margin and client satisfaction capture
  • Talent:
  • Responsible for the quality, seniority and performance of all members of the Private Markets EMEA team

Minimum Qualifications

  • 20+ years experience desirable
  • Depth of experience in Private Markets required; either from asset servicing, Big4 consulting or directly from within Private Equity/Real Asset employers
  • Demonstrable experience managing and growing a commercial revenue line
  • Strong Private Markets network within the EMEA region
  • Outstanding Leadership skills
