Public Engagement and Events Coordinator

The Ministry of Transportation is seeking an accomplished events professional to lead, plan, and execute high-profile media conferences, photo ops, tours, video shoots and more. This role is instrumental in shaping the ministry's engagement with stakeholders, showcasing its priorities, and promoting awareness for ministry programs and public services. This will require regular travel throughout the province in locations with limited access to public transportation.

The position requires a proven level of political acumen to interact with and support a Minister and senior government officials, as well as proficiency in media relations. If your skillset includes outstanding attention to detail, organizational and planning skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while building and maintaining relationships with colleagues, senior leaders, and vendors, this could be the job for you.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain a ministry events strategy, framework, and protocols to support ministry goals
  • Plan and lead tour strategies, public events, photo ops and video shoots, ensuring they align with corporate objectives and provide strategic communications advice
  • Conduct briefing for minister's staff and stakeholders, lead the coordination and execution of events and tours and provide onsite support
  • Research and evaluate emerging public/media issues, recommending proactive event planning
  • Ensure event and tour strategies align with the broader corporate context and participate in broader communications planning
  • Establish comprehensive e-binders for tours and events, event notes, event location proposals and other and briefing materials, and coordinate logistical activities
  • Conduct briefings for stakeholders and accompany officials to events, ensuring effective execution and providing support
  • Maintain contact with stakeholders, assess needs, and advise on event planning
  • Coordinate event suppliers, manage budgets, and evaluate service providers
  • Contribute to communications strategies, focusing on events and tours
  • Build effective relationships with external stakeholders and internal teams
  • Provide input into medium and long-term planning exercises to seize opportunities

Strategic Thinking and Project Management Skills:
