Role Summary

In this role as a Senior Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the movement of goods and resources from one location to another efficiently and cost-effectively. You will play a crucial role in various areas of our organization, including manufacturing, transportation, and distribution.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage regional carriers including freight spend analysis and benchmarking, RFP’s, contract negotiations, risk management, business reviews, and carrier relationship and SOP management.
  • Identify transportation cost savings opportunities and potential market disruptions.
  • Resolve carrier and transportation-related non-conformances. Identify root causes, develop and implement corrective actions, and follow up to ensure issues are fully resolved.
  • Serve as primary escalation contact for carrier inquiries and troubleshooting, including resolution of billing issues to ensure timely payment to carriers.
  • Provide logistics subject-matter expertise to colleagues, customers, suppliers, and senior management, for example attending sales or production meetings; ensuring hazardous materials packing and shipping compliance; or providing packing and transportation analysis and recommendations for optimized cost and transit times.
  • Quote and arrange air, ocean, truckload, LTL, parcel, heavy-haul, hotshot, and hazmat transportation within North America and globally, including issuance of transport and import/export documentation.
  • Provide backup support to logistics colleagues and logistics manager.
  • Support other logistics projects and initiatives as required.

What you Bring

  • 8+ years transportation management experience including domestic and international air, ocean, truckload, LTL, parcel, oversized, hot-shot, and hazmat freight.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of North America transport, import, and export regulations and ability to issue all documents in compliance with regulations.
  • A technical aptitude with high attention to detail, ability to assess transportation requirements from engineering drawings, parts lists, and proposals.
  • Thorough understanding of incoterms including the ability to communicate their obligations and risks to stakeholders.
  • Intermediate Excel skill level (advanced strongly preferred).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with transportation management systems and management of 3rd party freight audit and payment preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally provide after-hours emergency support including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be a highly reliable, proactive self-starter who will take ownership and resolve complex challenges independently.
