Advanced Application Engineer

We are hiring an Advance Application Engineer at the Morris plains, NJ branch to support BMS/HVAC engineering portfolio for New Jersey and adjacent region.

This position is responsible for the designing and programming of BMS Systems using company tools and operating protocols.

In addition, you will participate in cross-functional support to sale/estimation, projects/install PMs, service PMs, and high-level commissioning support to technicians.

Occasionally, you will also get to participate in beta testing of new products and initiatives.

  • Job Description:
  • Design building control systems including DDC controller system by selecting the proper combination of hardware, software, equipment, materials and services from the Honeywell product & applications portfolio that will deliver the highest value to the customer while supporting overall Honeywell business objectives.
  • Ability to engineer hardware, software, graphics, as-built details, sequences, creating control drawings, valve sizing, control device selection, damper sizing and schedules.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate technical concepts/solutions to internal and external customers; e.g. conducting site walks, accurately reviewing customer specs, and with the ability to identify opportunities, risks, and resources required to achieve results within the proposal cycle.
  • Review job contract plans, scope and specifications, survey information, sales sketches, estimates and take-off sheets for opportunities and proposals. Clearly define requirements prior to starting engineering.
  • Prepare submittals per engineering standards, ensuring commitment dates are met. Review submittals with sales and delivery teams and lead team to obtain hardware submittal approval.
  • Support Sales and Project Manager on surveys, application selection, layout of potential retrofit opportunities and assessing customers' business objectives and strategies.
  • Turn technical features/functions into a professional proposal and demonstrate business benefits.
  • Proposals include technical scope, commercial estimates, deliverables, schedules and terms and conditions and other variables to meet customer requests and expectations.
  • Ability to engineer small projects by completed hardware installation drawings, application software and graphics as required.
  • Create accurate and complete estimates.
  • Effectively communicate compelling features and benefits of the solutions and services to sales team and customers.
  • Professionally communicate in writing and verbally to account team, proposal team management and customers.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and produce desired results in a deadline driven environment.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a team environment. Work with field Technicians, Solution Design Center and Field Engineers as needed to improve efficiency and support Project Managers as needed. Prepare job drawings is required to meet deadlines.

Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience:

  • HVAC control systems.
  • Application programming for HVAC control systems.
  • Development of graphics, hardware, software.
  • Estimating through commissioning of a project.

5+ years of experience with AutoCAD or equivalent tool, Microsoft Excel and project.

5+ years Field Engineering Experience with energy retrofit projects.

Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.

We Value:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience estimating, selling and project implementation.
  • Successfully completed Tridium Niagara Certification, Advanced Tridium Niagara Certification, Niagara Analytics Certification
  • Hands-on experience delivering mid/large scale projects involving Tridium Niagara Framework based software programming and integration
  • Extensive knowledge of PCs, software, networks, Internet related technologies.
  • Experience with documentation such as reports, submittals and drawings.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements/restraints and offer a cost-effective solution to the service needs.
