Overview

SSOE is hiring for a Project Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. As a Project Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as technical specialist and subject matter expert on projects. You will provide project oversight, technical support to the team, prepare planning and design documents, and process design calculations. The ideal candidate will be a solid Mechanical Engineer with a proven history of project engineering experience.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

  • Develop, define, and execute mechanical engineering project plans for glass and manufacturing process and utility systems
  • Develop construction contract documents for the design of projects for:
  • Air systems, fans, ducting and dampers
  • Design of combustion systems
  • Design of cooling water and piping systems
  • Maintain high standards of excellence, utilizing mechanical engineering practices while planning and delivering projects within scope and schedule
  • Provide leadership over project plans and mentorship for team, serve in a Project Mechanical Engineering lead capacity
  • Direct the design of other engineers, designers and sub-contractors
  • Work in a multi-discipline, highly interactive team to successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specifications of engineered systems
  • Travel to client facilities for gathering of field data and review meetings and to provide onsite technical support with contractors.

Qualifications

Qualifications You’ll Need on Day One:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer - PE Registration is preferred but not required
  • 7+ years of project engineer or project management experience managing the scope, schedule, and successful delivery of mechanical engineering projects
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks and Inventor
  • Flexibility and willingness to provide timely solutions are a must
  • Engineering design firm experience preferred
  • Practical application of mechanical engineering, including combustion systems, cooling fans, process cooling water, compressed air, and support equipment design experience a plus, experience with hot, saturated and particulate air a plus
  • Ability to be forward thinking, learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Salary Range: $95,000-$110,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
