The Position:

Are you ready to take the helm of discovery efforts in our DMPK group at Maze? As an Associate Director, you'll be at the forefront of driving our mission forward, supporting discovery projects from hit-to-lead (H2L) through investigational new drug (IND) phases. Your expertise will be paramount as you collaborate with various teams within Maze, designing and executing specialized studies to unravel the intricacies of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics. Serving as the voice of DMPK on cross-functional project teams, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our groundbreaking medicines. And as a mentor within our team, you'll have the opportunity to inspire and guide the next generation of scientists. Reporting directly to the Head of DMPK, you'll have the support and guidance needed to excel in this dynamic role. A specialized background in advanced drug metabolism concepts (e.g. met ID, enzyme kinetics) and/or PK modeling is ideal and opportunities to implement and further develop this skill set will be presented. Join us in this journey of discovery and innovation, where your impact will be felt in every breakthrough we achieve.

Your Impact:

  • Lead and manage the discovery efforts of the Maze DMPK group.
  • Collaborate with various teams at Maze to design and execute specialized studies aimed at addressing specific DMPK-related questions and determining PK/PD relationships.
  • Serve as the DMPK representative on cross-functional discovery project teams.
  • Mentor scientists and associates within the DMPK group.
  • Oversee projects conducted with CRO partners.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant field with 6+ years of experience in DMPK within a biotech or pharmaceutical company, including proficiency with LC-MS systems.
  • Proven experience independently representing DMPK in cross-functional project teams, particularly during clinical candidate selection and IND-enabling phases.
  • Strong general knowledge of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism concepts, coupled with an advanced skillset in one or more specialized areas.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Phoenix WinNonlin, PK modeling, and human PK predictions.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to thrive in a team-based environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.

The expected annual salary range for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area is $185,700 to $227,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills, and job location. The expected salary range for this role may be modified in the future.
