Providence is calling Early Talent interns. This experience will prepare the intern to work in an entry level role at Providence such as a Patient Services Specialist with Providence Medical Group (PMG), Patient Transporter, or Environmental Services Technician. 

  • This is a paid internship opportunity. Pay will be $20/hour. 
  • This is a temporary, non-benefited position that will last for approximately 30 hours. 

Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. After applying, if you are selected to move forward, you will be prompted to complete a text-messaging-style initial interview. After that, you will be notified if you are selected to move forward with a live, video interview.

Internship hours (except for the one- day job shadow) will take place at the Providence Office Park, 4400 NE Halsey St. Portland, OR between June 17-June 2, 2024. Exact times will be set after the interview process, but will be during normal weekday business hours. Final day to apply for the internship is February 16, 2024. Interviews will take place between March 4-15, and candidates will be notified with decisions by April 5, 2024. 

There will be a total of 25 Early Talent interns through the ProvidenceReady program. The cohort will move through the internship experience together to create a community experience. The 30- hour internship will include classroom learning on topics such as: 

  • Providence culture and career paths 
  • Professional workplace behavior 
  • Resume writing and interviewing skills 

The internship will also include an 8-hour clinic experience where the intern will: 

  • Shadow someone in an entry level role. 
  • Learn about different roles in a clinic or hospital setting. 
  • See firsthand the culture and flow of working at Providence. 

Although we cannot guarantee permanent employment, we are looking for interns who are interested in working for Providence upon completion of the internship. This internship will be focused on preparing interns for roles such as: 

  • Patient Services Specialist (PSS): The PSS is the first point of contact to patients or visitors in person or by phone within Providence clinics. This position plays a key role in maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction by providing exceptional customer service. 
  • Patient Transporter: Move patients, items, and equipment from various destinations within the hospital.
  • Environmental Services Technician: Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and others areas of the hospital.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED by the time the internship begins (June 17, 2024)
  • 18 years or older by the time the internship begins (June 17, 2024)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Would be a first generational college student, should the intern decide to pursue higher education 
  • Experience in a Health Sciences or Health Career program during high school 
  • Desire to work at Providence after completion of the internship 
  • Include a recommendation letter from a teacher with your application.
