We are seeking a Senior Geologist (Environmental Geologist 3) to join our San Ramon, CA team! Previous engineer or environmental scientist experience welcomed. Come join us! 

The ideal candidate will have at least 10+ years (Senior Level) of environmental due diligence/remediation experience with 5+ years of direct responsibility managing projects, supervising and mentoring staff, preparation and review of technical proposals, regulatory agency interactions and negotiations, and providing QA/QC of deliverables. The qualified candidate will be based in the San Ramon, CA office.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Provide leadership, training, mentoring and support to junior staff and serve as a regional soil and groundwater remediation subject matter expert.
  • Manage subsurface investigation and remediation project’s scope, schedule, budget, staff, and subcontractors for existing public and private sector clients.
  • Direct and oversee the selection, design, cost analysis, installation, optimization, and operation and maintenance of various remedial systems including air sparge, oxygen injection, soil vapor extraction and groundwater pump and treat.
  • Responsible for preparing feasibility studies reports, pilot test reports, corrective action plans, remedial action plans, and remediation progress reports.
  • Provide peer review of project deliverables, e.g. reports, proposals, cost estimates and plans for national, regional and local clients.
  • Develop and update proposal, report, plan, and protocol templates for remediation projects, disseminate updates to branch managers and project managers.
  • Conduct internal audits of projects to ensure project managers are in conformance with Atlas standard remediation practices.
  • Act as liaison and advocate for clients with environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Implement Atlas’s health and safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: 

  • B.S degree in geology, civil/environmental engineering, environmental science or related field.
  • M.S. degree a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) credential.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office®.
  • Excellent leadership and client management skills.
  • Effective technical writing, strong oral communication, presentation and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organization and project objectives.
  • Technically adept, flexible, and forward thinking.
  • Exhibits ability to successfully track and meet budgets and schedules.
  • Exhibits attention to detail, and able to work under periodic time constraints.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental assessment and remediation regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to design field sampling programs, manage multiple subcontractors, as well as, interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for short periods of time.
  • GIS and/or CAD experience a plus.
  • Driver’s License

Compensation:

$110K - $140K Annual Salary

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
