Overview

Silicon Valley Bank’s Market Insights team is responsible for producing proprietary research and thought leadership that focuses on the trends, behaviors, and decision-making of sectors, investors, and companies driving the innovation economy. Our exclusive research and analysis elevate sales teams’ client engagements and prospecting efforts, support client decision-making, and amplify SVB’s brand. Market Insights produces a wide range of thought leadership, from short articles to in-depth reports covering topics that range from Climate Tech to Fintech, as well as custom analyses.

The Life Science & Healthcare Senior Analytics Researcher is responsible for developing and delivering high-impact reports and insights focused on the Life Science Healthcare sector, including SVB’s Healthcare Investments & Exits, The Future of Healthtech, Innovation in Women’s Health reports, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and execution of the life science healthcare editorial calendar, including strategic, scheduled reports and tactical, reactive insights as needed.
  • Build relationships with subject matter experts across the bank and industry to identify research topics and trends.
  • Gather qualitative and quantitative data from various informational sources. Apply advanced thinking principles to analyse data and produce valuable, relevant, and actionable insights.
  • Author high quality reports, articles, and presentations to highlight proprietary analysis and commentary.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to execute data analysis, to build effective engagement activities internally, to design and produce insights, to develop content that is fit for purpose and aligns to business and sales priorities, and to successfully activate insights externally.
  • Collaborate with the Market Insights team, fostering and adhering to best practices, professional development, attainment of individual and team goals, and a commitment to excellence.

Skills

  • Knowledge of statistical methodology
  • Experience with data analysis and problem-solving
  • Ability to establish databases to maintain and track data
  • Presentation development and delivery skills
  • Research and analysis using a variety of methods
  • Strong MS Excel, Tableau, and PitchBook skills. Power BI and/or CB Insights skills a plus
  • Dynamic professional with outstanding written, presentation and visual communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experienced at establishing priorities and meeting swift deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated team, project, and program management experience
  • Grounded in data to uncover opportunities, measure impact and drive decision making

The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $130,500.00 – $226,200.00 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years in a research role specifically focused on the life science/healthcare industry, ideally in venture capital, banking, or financial technologies (venture experience is not specifically required) OR High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of experience in a research role specifically focused on the life science/healthcare industry, ideally in venture capital, banking, or financial technologies

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, biology, chemistry, or public health. Additional background/interest in journalism a plus
  • Extensive research capabilities, track record of independently driven research reports, including successful engagement metrics
  • Proven ability to define scope and deliver results in a changing & growing business environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment that requires independent self-motivation and collaborative teamwork
  • Excellent writing/journalism skills to develop commentary and narrative to support analytical research results.
  • Experience in Banking/Financial Services or Technology companies
