Purpose of the role:
To operate as the Commercial Lines Leader for Finland across all relevant product lines (P&C + A&H Corporate). Role owner to be responsible for Finland Commercial Lines Strategy and Annual Plan definition, Plan delivery, UW Capability and Standards.
Key responsibilities:
- P&L ownership
- Manage top and bottom line and track ratios (cost, admin)
- Identify and execute on new business opportunities in alignment with the distribution function and regional leadership where appropriate and drive business growth
- Ensure appropriate pricing and rate to deliver bottom line plan
- Define and tracks performance metrics for each line and each individual as well as for the entire Commercial Lines Finland business (submissions, hit ratios, renewal, retention)
- Oversee progress towards financial objectives and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken when required to achieve targets. Present plans, progress, and results to executive management on regular basis.
- Underwriting & Portfolio Management
- To drive and execute business strategies, including appetite articulation, portfolio management (driving improved mix of business), “packaging” multiple lines, & industry specialization
- Ensure a culture of discipline and profit; lead a process of constant improvement
- New Product Development: ensure that the Chubb’s product offerings are responsive to Client / Broker expectations and consistent with Chubb’s underwriting philosophy. Collaborate with regional UW management. With line manager and S&D, lead the launch of new lines of business and new products / wording
- Market Engagement
- Ensure a clear and differentiated Chubb proposition exists for all business lines
- Embed the segment strategy (MA, MM, SME) into own business plans into a true competitive advantage and manage double reporting lines (where appropriate) in a smooth and productive manner
- Collaborate with S&D and segment leaders in external meetings to ensure that the UW appetite is clearly articulated and understood by brokers and clients.
- Create and open cross-selling opportunities across lines
- Contribute and drive implementation of projects to improve efficiency
- Leadership
- Leverage market knowledge to develop 2-ways trustful relationship with COG to ensure a shared understanding of local market conditions and local strategic context (client/broker) to deliver against customer needs
- Coordinate, troubleshoot and escalate, both internally and externally, on key new business opportunities & challenging renewals
- Act as a leader for Commercial Lines in Finland
- Develop teamwork, engagement and commitment
- Contribute to creating an attractive and exciting work environment on the Finish market
Qualifications
- Experience:
- At least 5+ years relevant experience on the Finland insurance market
- Strong track record in Underwriting (processes, tools, referrals, working etc.)
- Recognized expertise in P&C lines
- Experience of being exposed to senior leadership
- Experience of multinational and matrixed organisations
- Experience in hiring, developing people and managing performance
- Strong team-working and team-leading experience
- Knowledge & Qualifications:
- University degree in insurance, actuary, engineering, or business preferred
- Very strong leadership, executive presence
- People management skills, including managing managers and managing team dynamics
- Strong analytical skills, ability to structure and report information efficiently
- Ability to flex communication style and adjust to various groups and functions
- Excellent interpersonal & communications skills
- Ability to drive both strategy and execution
- Performance management and team development capability
- Finish and English fluent
