The Payor Partnerships team manages a $7B commercial revenue portfolio and a high-growth national integrated care business with over $5B of medical spend under management. We are a highly motivated, past-paced team with extensive experience in negotiations, managed care, finance, and consulting, and are at the center of DaVita’s strategy to evolve from fee for service reimbursement to value based care. The Director of Value-Based Payor Partnerships is a key member of this team, with primary responsibilities for leading cross-functional deal teams through underwriting, negotiation and execution of highly complex value-based care arrangements (shared risk, full capitation, pay-for-performance, etc.) with DaVita’s payor partners. Critical to success in this role is an ability to work collaboratively to manage multiple work streams across operations, legal, actuarial and business development. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive

  • Lead all aspects of the deal negotiation process, including negotiation strategy, financial modeling, pricing, and contracting
  • Deliver persuasive and effective communication, both to internal executives and to external parties, including developing meeting materials, conveying analytical findings and recommendations, and leading external negotiations
  • Supervise managers and analysts to develop financial analyses, and be willing and able to create the financial analyses independently and develop this capability within the team
  • Project manage cross-functional teams independently and operate under tight timelines as necessary
  • Engage team with thoughtful and creative solutions to complex problems, including finding alignment with partners on financial structures and contract language
  • Build strong relationships both internally and externally to support the execution, implementation, and success of our value-based programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years of work experience.
  • Preferred experience in healthcare value-based partnerships, or in transactions through work in corporate development, business development, banking, consulting or adjacent fields.
  • Understands the critical elements of working with payors and value-based care providers in non-traditional partnerships (shared savings, capitation, fee per service).
  • Innovative and flexible thinker with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously across multiple teams.
  • Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills alongside a proven track record of the using data to drive complex decisions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing
  • Person that thrives in an ambiguous, dynamic, high energy and fast paced environment
  • Passion for building trusted-advisor relationships with partners to create tangible results
  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for coaching, mentoring, training, and developing teammates
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.   • If this position is located in a region with minimum wage requirements, we will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage: Denver: $17.29/per hour for nonexempt roles, Colorado: $50k/year for exempt roles.
