TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.

JOB PURPOSE

The Communications Intern will contribute to the effective implementation of WFP Pakistan's communication strategy. The Intern will gain hands-on experience in various communication activities and support the communications team in achieving its goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Content Creation: Generate engaging and informative content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and the organization's website.

2. Collaborate with team members to develop content that aligns with the organization's messaging and branding.

3. Social Media Support: Assist in managing and updating social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) to enhance the organization's online presence.

4. Monitor social media trends and events and propose ideas for content that will resonate with the target audience.

5. Event Support: Provide support in organizing and promoting events, including virtual webinars, conferences, and community outreach initiatives.

6. Assist in the development of event communication materials, such as invitations, press releases, and promotional products.

7. Media Relations: Support the communications team in maintaining relationships with media outlets.

8. Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the performance of communication activities/media coverage using analytics software.

9. Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators and suggest areas for improvement.

Deliverables:

1. Support the Communications unit with day-to-day activities on communication tasks as assigned by supervisor. These typically include writing advocacy briefs, provide inputs for donor briefs, develop social media content and write human interest stories.

2. Participate in the implementation of the Communications and Advocacy Strategy by overseeing and delivering activities that identify, develop and maintain government partnerships, maximize funding, and deliver advantageous outcomes for the Country Office.

3. Produce a minimum of 4 social media posts per week.

4. Liaise with provincial colleagues on content gathering - images and case studies from the field, and edit success stories.

5. Be responsible to update the Social Media content calendar and submitting a bi-weekly overview outlining planned social media posts, blog articles, upcoming hallmark dates, campaigns and other advocacy opportunities.

6. Event Support Documentation: Provide documentation of tasks performed in support of events, including contact lists, promotional materials, and post-event reports.

7. Monthly Performance Report: Submit a monthly report summarizing social media engagement metrics, content reach, and any notable achievements or challenges.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

A recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment in the university in Communications, International relations, Journalism, Mass-media, Humanities, Social Sciences, Political Science or a any other relevant field..

Experience:

Proficiency in social media platforms and basic graphic design tools.

Experience in communications work is a clear advantage.

Knowledge & Skills:

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Knowledge of using Canva, Brandwatch, and Adobe Premier is an asset.

Knowledge of communication works with the development sector is required. UN experience is an advantage.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Excellent written and verbal communications.
