Tax Operations Officer

Position Overview

The Tax officer as part of the Operations team, is responsible for daily operational oversight, management of day-to-day processes and ensuring compliance for regulatory reporting. In addition, he/she is responsible for assessing impact to these processes from future regulatory legislation.

  • Prepare, oversee and submit Tax Reporting including CRS, FATCA and QI
  • Coordinate with outsourced Teams for the clients Tax statement (Generic and Country Specific) production, follow-up and investigation issue
  • Manage the Tax reclaim requests
  • Transactional taxes oversight (Quality check and payment oversight of taxes to Swiss Tax Authorities)
  • Support Front Office on Tax reporting related subjects/issues
  • Production of mandatory documents required by Tax Authorities
  • Ensure that tax documents are conform with the rules applicable by Swiss and Foreign Tax Authorities
  • Timely escalation of issues identified in the process in line with Operations escalation process
  • Apply zero tolerance on exceptions where possible and if not have an in depth understanding of the root cause and resolution vs the reporting requirements
  • Understanding of bank processes and be able to apply this knowledge to ensure accurate processing
  • Developing a relationship with Middle Office, CLM, Compliance and Technology areas to assist with the resolution of exceptions
  • Performing periodic quality assurance.
  • Ensuring the adequacy and delivery of internal reporting and MI to relevant stakeholders
  • Investigating the potential impact to the reporting process and requirements of new business lines and new products
  • Ensuring that any new Regulatory updates or changes are reviewed with respect to the impact on Reporting and adherence to the new requirements/changes
  • Continuous challenge of the process identifying areas for improvement

Skills and experience

  • Experienced in client documentation, tax reporting (CRS, FATCA, QI), client tax statements production, tax reclaim, Swiss Stamp Tax
  • Specific financial knowledge: interests, Capital Gain, Corporate Actions, financial products
  • Good analysis and problem solving skills, escalating any issues accordingly
  • Fluent in English, written and oral
  • Excellent communication skills - up/down/across
  • Self-starter
  • Investigative and inquisitive nature; willing to challenge accepted practice
  • A quick learner with the ability to translate understand and digest technical knowledge of the processes
  • Understand and be fully conversant with Regulatory Reporting rules
  • Developing a robust control environment to ensure Compliance with regulatory requirements
