Senior Manager of Video Production and Technology, Content Ventures, Gannett

The USA TODAY NETWORK is looking for a Senior Manager of Video Production and Technology to provide video production support and leadership for USA TODAY Network properties. This role will report to the Senior Director of Video Production and Technology and help lead the Visual & Technology team who is responsible foroverseeing the workflows and tools requiredto support the creation of compelling video storytelling and social content across multiple newsrooms in the USA TODAY Network. From capturing high quality video content to post-production and video editing, this role is a force multiplier for Network properties.

This position will also be tasked with elevating the quality and quantity of live video streams, for both our brands’ on-platform players and social platforms. This position helps guide training programs for a suite of cloud-based video workflow tools. This role contributes to growth by scaling USA TODAY Network properties access and proficiencyon cloud-dependent video production systems and asset management tools. This role requires superior communication skills and cross-divisional project management experience with a dynamic skill set that gets at the heart of what it means to work in digital media today.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Network video strategy with cutting-edge process and technology.
  • Provide logistical and operational expertise for all field productions, including creation and implementation of best practices for shot creation, field production, and video transmission for Network properties .
  • Support team leads while partnering with multiple IT teams to integrate various technical components to meet rapidly evolving technical requirements and business needs.
  • Coordinate and train team members and video champions across the USA TODAY NETWORK on best practices for all technical operations, systems and production software.
  • Advise key leaders across the USA TODAY NETWORK on aspects of video technical strategy and its related ecosystem; make timely recommendations when tactical pivots are required and/or advised.
  • Stay up to date on new technology trends; identify developing technology to streamline video workflows and production. 
  • Manage access to key production systems through administrative controls. 
  • Manage post-production workflows to ensure they are organized, optimized, and scalable across the video org. 
  • In coordination with other video team leaders, EPs and senior producers, assign and manage editors, design, and production resources (staff or freelance) against a continually evolving slate of priorities.
  • Participate in creative and special project development / execution as a key stakeholder for post-production best practices and creative approaches.
  • Collaborate with video stakeholders across the network to ensure content is on-brand and on-spec, with high quality creative standards. 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism or any other subject or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 3-5 years of technology management experience. 
  • Expert knowledge of video production, transmission, hardware, and non-linear editing systems, with a focus on Adobe Creative Cloud applications and workflows. 
  • In-depth knowledge of livestreaming software, hardware, and social destination requirements. 
  • Experience with web-based video interview recording platforms.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and an aptitude for solving problems. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Advanced knowledge of IPvideo. 
  • Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure. 
  • Advanced knowledge of system security. 
  • Experience in project management. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
