L.L.Bean is currently searching for a 3rd Shift Mechanical Technician to join the Facilities team located in Freeport, Maine.

Position Purpose

The Mechanical Tech will assist other senior Mechanical Techs with performing planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper location.
  • Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment.
  • Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
  • Updates maintenance and repair logs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned including snow removal, wood and metal fabrication
  • Disassembles equipment to repair or replace broken or worn parts.
  • Inspects completed repairs.
  • Support other technicians as required.
  • Knows and follows all safety rules and procedures. Reports all unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Employees working in this position, to support peak season, will be expected and must be available to work fluctuating schedules which may exceed forty hours per week according to business demands.
  • This position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive position is one in which an impaired worker constitutes a serious and direct threat to workplace health and safety. Employees in this position must agree that they will not come to work or be at work at any time under the influence of alcohol or any drug that could render them impaired.

Education Level: Highschool or GED

Years of Experience: 1-2 years

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of mechanical repair.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to use power and hand tools.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Proficient with computers and systems including Microsoft O365, CMMS, Infolink, GPS monitoring, I-Boss battery management system.
