Arnold and Mabel Beckman Postdoctoral Scholar in Macular Degeneration - Browne Lab

University of California Irvine

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Postdoctoral Scholar Position is a prestigious competitive award to support young researchers conducting research in Macular Degeneration. The Scholar position is to support a postdoctoral scholar conducting research in the Browne Lab (Eye-Testing Lab) in the Center for Translational Vision Research at University of California Irvine. The Browne lab is dedicated to engineering tools to image and test visual function. Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the aging population. We seek to develop imaging systems and therapies for humans suffering from macular degenerative conditions. We are building cameras (2-photon (2P) excited fluorescence, diffuse light optics, stereo multispectral imaging and ultrasound) to visualize the retinal structure and function. We are also developing systems to enhance retinal tissue manufacturing for therapeutic transplantation and scientific inquisition. Candidates for this position are expected to have expertise in imaging system engineering using combination of skills that should include some of the following: optical engineering, CAD, computer programming, Matlab, Labview, 3D printing and data analysis.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Appointment as a Postdoctoral Scholar requires a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) or the foreign equivalent.
