Job Description Details

We are seeking an experienced leader to take ownership of Zulily Merchandising and Program Analytics. Committed to value-creation, you will be a key analytics business partner to the Chief Merchant & his leadership team. You will guide them in their decision-making process using data-backed insights as your north star.

The role sits within the centralized analytics organization at Zulily with a total team size of 10-11 analysts and product managers. You will lead multiple teams owning pricing strategy (automation, margin maximization, competitive strategy), product quality evaluation, new business portfolio metrics & growth, and general merchandising analytics products and strategy that optimize towards creating an amazing customer experience for our core customer, Mom.

You own the roadmap for multiple enterprise-wide initiatives and are able to both roll up your sleeves to get into the smallest detail as well as lead through leaders and senior individual contributors.

You think strategically, develop insightful analysis, communicate findings concisely to senior leaders, and work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.

You support various initiatives using structured analyses and data to help your counterparts form opinions and help them develop strategies to take the company forward providing critical inputs on goal setting & targeting.

Essential Job Functions

  • Hire, develop, and mentor a team of seasoned strategic analysts & product/program managers. This includes developing people managers and leading through these leaders.
  • Drive the analysts toward best practices and repeatable frameworks and act as a champion for the team’s methodologies and outputs.
  • Create & modify KPI’s & reporting to evolve with the changing business & organizational strategies.
  • Identify and manage strategic and tactical priorities while working with merchandising, data science and technology to drive the best analytical practices and business results.
  • Proactively interact with the stakeholders within the business teams and drive customer-centric changes through data-driven experiments & deep, analytical insights (preliminary data analysis, machine learning model development, detailed data analysis, financial analysis and recommendations).
  • Proactively explore new areas of opportunities to drive Zulily’s value and growth goals forward and coordinate with the key stakeholders to prioritize and lead the changes.
  • Establish strong working relationship at all organizational levels across different functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in an in-depth Analytics or FP&A function; ideally in partnership with Marketing, Merchandising, Growth, or Product Management departments
  • 5+ years of people management experience required including experience leading people managers.
  • Experience driving cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to turn complex questions and issues into clear questions, analysis and results using advanced analytical methods.
  • “Big picture” thinker capable of prioritizing work that makes the highest impact; able to work across a wide range of competing demands and get up to speed quickly on new problems
  • Strong communication skills. Able to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner. Experience communicating analyses and fielding questions from executive team members
  • Experience with retail/merchandising concepts like pricing strategy & inventory management
  • Experience with experimental design and A/B test analysis across multiple KPIs
  • Ability to think through complex problems, determine proper analytical processes and procedures, independently derive conclusions and present results to the team
  • Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized. Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Strong proficiency with SQL; experience managing teams using more advanced automations & coding including R, Python
  • Experience with BigQuery a plus
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools/suites like Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc
