AVP Underwriter, Marine & Energy Treaty Reinsurance.

Chubb Tempest Re is the third party reinsurance arm of the Chubb Limited Group, with operations in London, Hamilton (Bermuda), Stamford and Zurich. The marine & energy treaty reinsurance division is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join the team.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for growth of the portfolio with key brokers and clients, whilst maintaining and developing a portfolio of existing accounts. Provide coaching and mentoring to help development of more junior members of the team. The candidate must be a good team player as well as having the ability to work on their own and to tight deadlines. This role reports directly to the Line Manager of Marine & Energy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with all stakeholders; brokers, clients, other internal Chubb functions.
  • Assist in the underwriting and processing of new business, renewals and endorsements.
  • Liaise with brokers and internal departments for credit control, claims and risk information.
  • Analysis of underwriting submissions to form opinion on risk quality and appetite.
  • Contribute to periodic reports such as production, exposure summaries, and rate movement.
  • Manage aggregation and catastrophe modelling, liaising with the Cat Team.
  • Adherence to all financial, legal, regulatory and compliance as it relates to the role.
  • Attend of technical presentations and training programs, both internally and externally.
  • Travel to meet with international clients and brokers.
  • Provide advice, guidance and training to more junior team members.
  • Any other ad hoc duties allocated by the Line Manager.
  • Previous experience in the treaty reinsurance industry, or previous experience in the insurance industry but with working knowledge of treaty reinsurance, preferably in the Marine and / or Energy field
  • Minimum A-Level, but preferably Degree standard (or equivalent).
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Expected to undertake training/progressing through professional examinations.
