Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$101,700.00 - $167,800.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers is seeking an initiative taking, hands-on experienced technology leader able to horizontally traverse our Business Insurance landscape to define, execute and support continuous improvement initiatives for improving the business and agent technology experiences. All while working in an Agile framework.

(1) Drive Problem Management practice - Very strong analytical and critical thinking skills – specializing in root cause analysis to drive system

stability and a quality experience. Work with application and infrastructure owners, vendors across the enterprise to prevent incident and

problem recurrence. Lead through influence as a sole contributor and work with team on assignments.

(2) Conduct Data Analysis across many sources and technologies such as application performance monitoring, incident/problem/change

management data as well as typical insurance application and platform data. Ability to identify trends, patterns and provide metrics and

reporting through a horizontal lens. Synthesizing data into informational insights.

(3) Focused on learning and leveraging ServiceNow platform capabilities current and future, technical and non-technical. Exploring performance / predictive analytics as the platform evolves including AI.

This role is part of an evolving team focused on identifying patterns, trends to drive actions across to meet or exceed objectives/key results and KPI's. Demonstrate a broad understanding of technology stacks and applications to identify gaps. Move seamlessly between sole contribution work and leadership. Must be comfortable taking on different roles based on need or where the data may take us. What Will You Do?

  • Drive Problem Management practices across Business Insurance and influence enterprise practices to achieve a healthy technology environment. Using failures as learning opportunities for improvement. Break down problems to manageable pieces and articulates next step actions. Is very good at root cause identification versus symptom.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making – demonstrate sound analytic and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are loosely defined and/or conflict with available information. Has the ability to reach sound decisions quickly. Carefully evaluates alternative risks and solutions before acting. Optimizes the use of available resources.
  • Data Analytics - mining data from multiple sources to identify patterns pro-actively and reactively on technology quality and experience. Using tools and platforms from the ITIL practices for incident, problem and change to other data extraction tools.
  • Navigate and influence a wide audience from senior leadership to engineers and operations executors – considerable people interactions. Ensure a good working relationship is established with all necessary support organizations both internal and external.
  • Understand complex workflows to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Change Management – ability to successfully influence the people side of change in a collaborative and constructive manner. Enjoys navigating through ambiguity toward outcomes, while bringing others through the change process.
  • Ensuring metrics & reporting integrity and quality
  • Manages within established organizational objectives.
  • Applies knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects and/or enhancements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering or related field
  • 6-8 years of technology or business-related experience including leadership experience required
  • Problem Management and familiarity with ITIL practices
  • Hands on data analytics experience – deep analytical capabilities, some scripting, different tool usage to analyze & pattern data
  • Knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance, preferably commercial insurance
  • ServiceNow Knowledge very beneficial
  • Lean/Six Sigma certifications a plus
  • Strong customer orientation with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Demonstrates in depth knowledge of multiple applications, functions and technologies
  • Has working knowledge of all programming disciplines and an understanding of the business that the assigned systems are supporting.
  • Has conceptual knowledge of varying technologies and the ability to make decisions based on that knowledge.
  • Has thorough understanding of staff responsibilities, abilities and development needs.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL Service management platforms

  • Able to develop business partnerships and influence business priorities through solution identification aligned with business objectives and goals.
  • Ability to create an atmosphere where business partner's issues are dealt with professionally, and in a timely manner.

What is a Must Have?

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of technology or business related experience required.
