THE ROLE

The EMEA Communications team deliver ambitious and dynamic publicity plans to build BBC Studios’ reputation and bring world class content to audiences across the region. 

As Senior Communications Officer you will be responsible for execution of communications plans that build and enhance the reputation of BBC Studios sales, partnerships, branded services and Digital

Global News products in EMEA. Working with Comms Manager EMEA, this role will further the reputation of our Global Media and Streaming business across the region and beyond.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working with Comms Manager EMEA, identify and implement corporate, consumer and B2B reputation enhancing publicity for EMEA regions including but not limited to; programme publicity campaigns, press releases, press events, interviews and speaking opportunities. 
  • Responsibility for EMEA corporate communications documents, creating and preparing assets where required. 
  • Provide briefings for senior executives outlining the major BBC, BBCS and industry issues, research and write speeches as necessary.
  • Support Comms Manager EMEA to deliver business-reputational coverage in the UK and international trade media around key trade shows and festivals.
  • Manage negative press issues in relevant markets as appropriate.
  • Support Digital Global News comms activity as required.
  • Drive uplift in audiences to branded services through targeted trade and consumer publicity and digital campaigns in order to achieve set KPIs. 
  • Management of BBC Studios executives and talent press activity and appearances. 
  • Management of local agency on specific campaign/projects.
  • Develop ongoing communications plan for Out Of Home business.
  • Develop collaborative working relationship with the relevant teams across sales, marketing, editorial, commercial and production in the region.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders, incl. clients and affiliate partner communication teams, trade event and associations. 
  • Support Head of Communications, Global Media and Streaming on other international work as required.
  • Prepare internal PR reports as required.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

Essential

  • Excellent understanding of corporate, consumer & digital comms. 
  • Proven ability to craft brand & corporate messages in a variety of tones and styles according to audience and narrator. 
  • Experience in leading consumer publicity campaigns.
  • Experience of handling crises and effecting responses at a high profile organisation.
  • Experience of working relationships with a wide range of levels including the most senior internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to maintain credibility.
  • Ability to prioritise to meet conflicting deadlines, often at short notice and under pressure.

Desirable 

  • Knowledge and/or experience of the media/broadcasting environment an advantage.

Salary: Circa £43,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
