Hybrid Work Model

Job Description

The Senior DevOps Engineer will work collaboratively with the Assent’s Cloud Operations and Engineering teams to design, develop and implement continuous integration and continuous deployment solutions. This person will be responsible for establishing and maintaining development and testing environments and creating and maintaining configurations for all supporting software deployments. The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the automation and streamlining of our code integration and deployment operations and processes.

Key Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement solutions that automate manual processes to enable agility and quality within and across all Engineering, Database and Operations teams;
  • Promote, design and develop processes, tools and infrastructure that move the R&D teams further towards continuous integration and continuous deployment;
  • Build solutions that integrate with and monitor our release-management and production operations practices with highly automated processes;
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Operations teams to design and implement these solutions;
  • Develop solutions that handle common failure scenarios (e.g. scripted/automated rollback (code and database), failovers, escalation procedures, etc.);
  • Solve infrastructure puzzles by using a mix of cloud infrastructure, virtual machines and containers;
  • Help maintain the infrastructure running our CI/CD pipeline including test environments and find ways to make this maintenance more efficient;
  • Consult on overall production system architecture;
  • Maintain and manage AWS Resources, Jenkins, Artifactory and Ansible;
  • Participate in software development as part of a SCRUM team;
  • Provide technical guidance to more junior members of the team;
  • Be familiar with corporate security policies and follow the guidance set out by processes and procedures of Assent

Qualifications

We strongly value your talent and passion but it would also be nice if you had the following qualifications under your belt:

  • You are detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills - you communicate proactively, clearly, concisely and with tact;
  • You have at least 7 years of DevOps experience with automated build / test / deployment tools and environments;
  • This should include:
  • Experience with object-oriented programming 
  • Experience automating deployment of applications in AWS.
  • Experience writing infrastructure as code in Terraform
  • Demonstrated experience with automation & scripting via Bash, PowerShell
  • Knowledge/experience in Jenkins or similar orchestration tools 
  • Knowledge/experience of Cl (Continuous Integration) and CD (Continuous 
  • Proficiency with docker and containers 
  • Proven knowledge and experience with both Linux and Windows based operating systems 
  • Experience reviewing architectures and designs
