Position Specific Description

  • Responsible for managing 5 MW to 50MW+ solar and solar + battery construction projects from development handover through project closeout.
  • Manage subcontractor through all phases of the construction lifecycle.
  • Establish, maintain, and lead a cohesive and effective Project Team, through open communication and proactive collaboration. Provide support to anticipate and overcome challenges, while ensuring all quality standards are maintained and budgets controlled and adhered to.
  • Establish the sequence and timing of major work elements that support the contract schedule, while considering interdependencies, constraints, and logic associated with the project critical path.
  • Provide accurate reporting and forecasting for all elements of the project cycle.
  • Establish and implement appropriate strategies and guidance to provide effective risk mitigation.
  • Ensure effective communication between Engineering , Procurement and Subcontractor teams to ensure on time delivery of materials and equipment to meet Project deadlines.
  • Oversee the management of system design and Engineering deliverables required for the Project guidelines and Customer/Utility requirements.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Preconstruction team to ensure project materials, long lead items, and equipment are ordered on schedule and meet cost and quality targets. Support the evaluation of Subcontractor, vendor and supplier capabilities and offers utilizing the appropriate disciplines and resources to develop well defined Scopes of Work
  • Evaluate and advise on contractual conflicts and their proposed resolution
  • Ensure Project documentation is maintained per Company standards including RFI’s, Submittals, Drawings, Standards and Specifications, and Daily Logs
  • Work with Engineering team to ensure timely responses to RFI’s and Submittals occurs to maintain schedule milestones.
  • Responsible for project budget, risk management, safety, and quality.
  • Ensure subcontractors are in compliance with all permits and laws, regulations, and AHJ’s.
  • Responsible to manage Subcontracts from execution including tracking deliverables, schedules, payments due, managing change orders, and providing notices or dispute resolution if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Construction, Engineering, Business or related discipline preferred or 5-10 years of applied PM practice in renewable energy, industrial construction, or infrastructure projects will be considered.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Advanced knowledge and application of PM processes
  • Advanced understanding and application of contract commercial terms
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and develop scopes of work
  • Financial acumen with ability to act with limited supervision in the processing of finance related information
  • Agile in conflict management, and dispute resolution
  • Expertise in building codes, permitting and labor issues
  • High level of proficiency applying Global best practices in project management with a keen understanding of construction methodologies
  • Strong contract administration and risk management skills
  • Strong leadership, written and oral communication, team building, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to conduct negotiations with vendors, suppliers, governmental entities, contractors and utilities
  • Proficient in coordination of engineering design, procurement, and construction practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling concepts, techniques, and software such as MS-Project and/or Primavera P6 a plus
  • Usually manages a project of varying values and degrees of difficulty as assigned
  • Solar Industry experience a plus
  • Experience in solar or energy related projects of $2-30M+ preferred
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • Superior project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Travel to project site as required 25-50%

Location: This position can be remote.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment and in the field. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds.

Job Overview

This position manages the engineering, procurement and construction oversight activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start- up, and commence commercial operations of between one and four energy project sites. Employees in this role interface daily with each project's designated management committee or acts as Executive Director of project activities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans
  • Meets corporate objectives with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
  • Manages department resources to provide effective early-stage project development support
  • Ensures projects are efficiently, effectively and safely implemented in accordance with department procedures and policies
  • Manages walk down of planned work, validates acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approves contractor payment requests
  • Verifies constructability, ensures proper resource allocations, assesses field status and resolves issues as needed
  • Leads project meetings and reviews budget, risk tracker, and contingency allocations
  • Interfaces with project's designated management committees, or acts as Executive Director of project activities
  • Supervises activities and/or coordinates activities or groups, such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, and analysis and contract administration
  • Oversees commissioning activities to meet corporate objectives, with limited project management, scheduling and estimating resources
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
