Data Science Advisor

What you’ll achieve

As a Data Science Advisor you will be responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of models across all functions of DFS. A major focus of the role will be on the continued evolution of global credit application models and key European Banking & Finance regulatory models such as IFRS 9 ECL models and ICAAP models. You will collaborate with Decision Sciences and Global IT services on developing new processes & procedures to ensure the bank’s modelling capabilities are best in class.

You will:

  • Support the implementation of developed models from production through UAT and deployment.
  • Responsible to help develop machine learning models to predict customer behavior in different functions across DFS such as Fraud and Anti-Money Laundering.
  • Monitor and review model performance and metrics. Develop and maintain model documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic training, research and development of new models, methodologies and scorecard/model business usage.
  • Retrieval and manipulation of diverse data, performance of regular review and report generation, and maintenance of automated applications (e.g. Shiny). Derive appropriate action recommendations based on results from the analytical work conducted.

Essential Requirements 

  • Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, a related quantitative discipline or prior experience of 1+ years as a Data Scientist.
  • Experience with statistical modelling and analytic techniques.
  • Experience working with R or Python for Data Manipulation, Modelling and Visualization.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively understand and communicate technical work to a wide audience is required.
  • End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, and visualization is required. Experience of producing and developing reports/dashboards using SQL, R Markdown, FlexDashboard and htmlWidgets.

Desirable Requirements 

  • Previous experience operating in a regulated financial entity.
  • IFRS 9 ECL or GVAR Macroeconomic modelling experience a major plus.
