Job Description

Management Analytics is an integral part of CPP Investments with the objective of evaluating how we generate incremental returns and manage our existing resources. It represents a management capability that can help us, over long horizons, iteratively improve the Fund’s long-term investment performance.

The Director, Total Fund Insights & Analysis, is a key member of the Management Analytics group within Finance. The individual will be responsible for leading reporting deliverables and analysis with the objective of enabling senior management with financial information and insights to continually improve long-term value-add generation. The role will require an influential voice and the development of an extensive network with senior stakeholders across the Fund to execute on accountabilities. The individual will require knowledge of financial and investment analysis concepts, combined with effective communication, people leadership and project management skills

Major Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of board and management reporting, and the Annual Report; lead alignment across departments to help ensure an accurate ‘story’ throughout all reports and their audiences
  • Drive and evolve integrated portfolio analysis across performance, cost, and exposure metrics from a total Fund lens to provide actionable insights that enables management decision-making
  • Partner with subject matter experts across Finance, Risk and the Office of the Chief Investment Officer to generate explanations of total Fund performance drivers for senior stakeholders
  • Serve as an advisor to stakeholders on analytical requirements, proactively anticipating information needs based on organizational priorities and driving thought leadership initiatives
  • Support the design and delivery of self-serve dashboards by leading on interpreting and communicating business requirements to the relevant development teams; leverage data capabilities and new automation tools to facilitate user-driven analytical solutions
  • Ensure a robust control and governance ecosystem as it relates to reporting processes, and actively seek continual innovation through proactive process enhancement and automation
  • Promote a culture of high-performance, execution excellence through a commitment to quality, and partnership by leading on proactive collaboration

Qualifications

  • Exemplary critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ability to navigate an information-intensive environment to derive actionable insights from analysis
  • Exceptional relationship management skills to support effective cross-department partnerships to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Highly organized and able to manage and oversee multiple deliverables simultaneously with versatility
  • Superior communication skills with an ability to articulate complex concepts and new ideas to senior executives through plain language and powerful visualizations
  • Demonstrated cross-functional execution leadership and project management capabilities to lead the development and implementation of business solutions
  • Strategic mindset that combines a commercial approach to decision-making with an interest in understanding the details, to provide situation-tailored solutions and recommendations
  • Proven ability in managing a team to deliver successful outcomes under a high-paced environment

Education and experience

  • 9+ years of progressive experience in a role involving financial analysis and reporting, stakeholder communication, team leadership and project management
  • A professional designation from a globally reputed professional body (e.g. CFA, CPA, MBA)
